Back at school, my emotions were some-what normal again. Later that night, Steve helped me clear up the shattered glass and stayed with me till Uncle Tony returned back from his very much extended meeting. Of course he was concerned about me and I ended up crying yet again to him as I vented my opinions and he tried to tell me otherwise, Steve staying all the way through as well as support for both of us. I never really thought Steve would be such a caring person, or end up caring about me as much as he seemed to, almost as if he was like a second Uncle to me.

But then again, I never expected for there to be a cute, 17 year old boy who was also an Avenger, so I guessed the entire facility was made up of utter surprises hidden from the public.

"Did you complete that science assignment we were given?" Peter questioned as we stood at his locker together, him in his hoodie and one of his many geeky t-shirts whilst I was in black jeans, black flats and a grey oversized hoodie leaning against the lockers.

"Nah, too busy having an emotional breakdown honestly," I tell him with a shrug and a laugh despite Peter's look of concern for my comment, "But I'm fine now, just a thing of the moment, that's all."

Peter nodded as we walked to the Chemistry room together. This was one of Peter's favourite subjects, whilst I absolutely hated it and couldn't make sense of it at all, even with the GCSE's I had done back in England I barely just passed it. All the equations, all the numbers and 'bonding of elements' confused me as the teacher moved to write chemical equations on the board and mass numbers. I sat next to Peter in this lesson ironically, and watched him nod along with the teachers talking and writing down the notes simultaneously, whilst I sat there, confused as he, in my opinion, wrote squiggles over the board.

I was about to zone out yet again when I heard my phone beep loudly from my bag, and the teacher must have heard too as he turned around and stared at me, annoyance in his voice as he spoke, "Miss Stark, please don't tell me that was you."

I go red as the class look at me and lean into my bag and get my phone out, a message from my Uncle on the screen, "Sorry, it's my Uncle..." I say.

"Well tell him he may be able to pay for the latest tech, but not for your vital education," he replies stubbornly before turning back to the board to continue his explanation.

"What does it say?" Peter asked in a whisper as I look at my phone under the table and as I read it, I feel my throat tighten and my breath hitch.

just got some news about your dad - his body is safely in New York, so have booked the funeral for the 17th. sorry about this kid, hope your ok x

"That's in two days," Peter responds as I nod slowly, unable to say anything. Obviously I was happy my dad had been brought back safely, that we could finally send him the send off he deserved and my mom never got, but it hurt that it was all happening so fast, racing through so quickly and I hadn't even finished mourning yet.

"I'm... I have to go..." I say quickly, my voice croaky and my heartrate quickening. I put my bag on my shoulder, grab the books on the table in my arms and quickly leave the classroom, ignoring the teacher telling me to come back and sit down angrily, I simply storm out the room, hoping to make it to the girls bathroom before I start to cry, but instead beginning barely 10 meters away from the classroom, forcing myself to sit on a bench in the hallway and resting my elbows on my knees and head in my hands.

"Parker!" I hear a male voice snap and I look up from my hands to see Peter dash out of the classroom, backpack on his back which was slightly open. He looked down the corridor the other way before my way, locking eye contact with me as he spotted me there, all puffy red eyed and, yet again, a mess.
