Chapter 2 

"Oh holy steaks! That was cold!" Mia pass me a towel, "haha, you still say holy steaks. Some things never change." Sam laughs at me. 

I wrapped the towel around my body. "Let's go clean up, meet at 7 for dinner." Jordan says, "yeah sure." They say in a few chorus. 

We went made our way back into the hotel, the air-conditioned hotel.

After dinner, we went to the beach where a bon-fire is set up by Eugene and Mia. 

We all sat in a circle, I sat next to Erwin. "Okay, here comes the food!" Mia put down the snacks. "Is there alcohol?" Me and Eugene ask at the same time. 

Everyone went silent, ugh stupid steaks. 

"Yeah, there is." Mia replied, feeling odd that everyone went quiet. 

"You started drinking?" Sam ask, "erh yeah, sorta of." I replied. 

"What does that mean?" Zach asks, "long story." I say, I look at them. They were staring at me with a raised brow. 

"I will tell you guys some other time." I say, "now it's not the time." I say, letting out a nervous chuckle. 

"Okay, what did you guys did for mother's day?" Mia ask, changing the subject. 

"Mother's day? I send her a long text message but she didn't get it because she doesn't how to use a phone." Sam replies, making everyone to laugh. 

I put on a nervous smile, "you okay? You look like you're going to cry."  Erwin whispers, passing me the bag of chips which I passed down to Sam. 

"I am fine," I say to him. "How about you, Avery?" Mia ask. "Huh? I don't have a mother." I replied. 

"Well, i do have one but I never saw her before." I say, shrugging slightly with a smile. "Okay, how about father's day?" She asks with a wide smile. 

"Well, I visited his grave." I say, "what?" Sam look at me with shocked. "My Dad got into an accident and yeah," I shrug. 

"Avery, why didn't you tell us?" Sam ask, "first, the bullies, then the drop out, what else are you hiding?" Sam ask. 

"What bullies, what drop out?" Jordan ask, suddenly confused. "It's nothing." I assured her, "Avery!" Sam's eyes widen. 

"Avery, what are you scared of? You're still our friend." Sam states, "Sam, that's enough." Eugene says, frowning slightly. 

Then everyone went silent again. We only can hear the waves that are coming up the shore and crashing onto the rocks. 

"Hey, how about that seashell joke?" Jordan ask, "what joke?" Eugene's eyebrows furrowed. 'That seashell on the seashore thing." Jordan says in a 'you should know this' tone. 

"That isn't a joke, that is a tongue twister." Erwin says to her, "oh, oh!" She exclaims, finally coming to her realization that is a tongue twister. 

"I've been lied to for 7 years!" She exclaims, everyone laughed at her. 

"I am going to the bathroom." I say, standing up. "Oh, buy some popsicles!" Travis shouted, "will do!" I shouted, not looking back. 

"Eh Evans, you okay?!" Zach shouted, "yeah fine!" I shouted back. "Don't listen to Sam, he's bullshit!" Zach shouted, and of course, they laughed. 

Their laughter got fainter when I reach somewhere, I don't know. Ugh. 

Stupid steaks. 

Tears were rolling down my cheeks, oh god. Why am I so weak? 

"Hey Evans!" I heard the familiar voice, ugh Sam. I can't deal with this right now. 

I need to get away. 

I run across the road, "hey, watch out!" An arm pull me back, the car horn at me. "Aye kid, watch where you're going!" The man shouted at me. 

I only cried harder. 

"Hey, hey." 

"Eugene?" I look up at him, "yeah. I came to check on you." His arm tightly around my waist. 

Oh steaks, I miss you so much. 

"Oh, hi."

"Hi."

After a few moments of silent, my thoughts about my friends being angry at me and all is breaking me apart. 

"Hey, ignore Sam okay? It's okay for you to drop out. Not everyone is meant for school," he says, pulling me to his chest. 

"It's okay," He whispers. 

I miss you, you idiot. 

"Your father was a great guy," he says, patting my back. "Sam is just angry because he is your best friend, and you didn't tell him." He says. 

"You know.. Like he wants to be there for you." 

He wipes away my tears, "I drink because i got raped and I don't know what to do." I say, letting out a sob after that. 

"What?" His eyebrows furrowed, "I am sorry, I am so sorry." I apologize, my knees getting weak. 

"Hey, Avery. Avery, don't ever say sorry for what you never done wrong." He says, he then hugs me tightly after one whole year.

"Hey!" Jordan enters the hotel room, it's 11pm and I've been here for 3 hours. After all that, Eugene -of course- have to go back to Mia and the rest. Eugene help me lied and told them I was tired and Travis did got his popsicle. 

"Hey," I flash a smile at her, "you should've joined us, you know." She says, going into the bathroom. "Glad you have fun." I say in a fake-slight excitement tone. 

I hug my pillow close to my chest. 

"But then we know that you're very tired and all." She says, taking off her heavy make-up. "Yeah, thanks for understanding." I say, watching Big Bang Theory on tv. 

"Oh you're welcome." She smiles, she grabs what she needs for sleep and close the bathroom door. 

Do you remember the time I fell down? My knees were bleeding and you were looking at me, I was in pain but you looked way too gorgeous. 

Do you remember the time I dropped my pencil and you helped me to pick it up but I got it and we almost kissed? 

Because I remember, Hunter. I wonder if you do too.
