Chapter 6

"Avery, you look fine! Stop worrying about it." Jordan says. "I am not worried about my clothes." I stated, rolling my eyes at her. I was wearing a black skirt and a black long-sleeves top.

"I just don't want to go." I groan softly, I grab my phone and put into Jordan's purse. She lent her purse to me since my purse isn't Gucci.

Jordan's date is Nathan, which is quite.. Weird.

"I am guessing you're my date." Erwin says to me, "yes you are." I nod and walk by his side.

"Why?" He then ask, "single for too long." I say, shrugging.

"Ugh, but you're my brother's ex."

"We didn't even broke up, man." I say in a low tone.

We got to the lobby where the rest is, "so where are we eating?" Nathan ask. He looks quite nice actually, he don't usually wear suit and tie.

"A fancy restaurant," Mia says, her arm around Eugene's. He looks amazing, his jaw line.. His lips.. His eyes.

Gotta stop thinking about him.

"Hey, where are you guys going? Woah, Avery. You look different." Travis says, staring at me.

"Is that a good thing or a bad thing?" I ask, "I don't know. Just don't lose your soccer skills." Travis shrugs.

"Dude, she's wearing sneakers with her skirt." Mia noticed, "yeah, and what's wrong with that?" Nathan raised her eyebrows.

"Ugh, boys."

I regret coming out.

We all sat down at the table.

We should never do this again, I really wish I have the courage to say that.

Oh steaks.

I wonder if they have steaks.. Well, it's a restaurant. They ought to have a steak.

"So, we're going to New York next week. What's the plans?" Mia ask.

"We can leave by my beach house that I own, it has just enough rooms for everybody. And we will see what we can do there." Erwin replies.

"All I can think about is fashion shows and shopping." Jordan then says.

"What did you do, Avery?" Mia ask.

"Nothing much." I shrug, "oh right, because you drop out of school."

I smiled slightly and nod.

I want to leave. There's so many people around, its just awkward.

They begin talking about what they want to do tomorrow. All I heard was something about a board and I was out.

"Me and Jordan are going to the washroom."

"Evans, you going?" Nathan ask.

"Dude, I am not wearing make-up." I pointed out.

"She doesn't need makeup." Eugene says, shrugging.

Aw.

"You guys.. You guys still love each other?" Nathan ask. Erwin smirks and lean back on his seat.

"I don't know." Eugene mumbled.

"I thought you don't love him anymore after you left and all."

"Who said I stopped?" I muttered. Then we were quiet for the next minutes till the girls arrived back.

"You know, I am gonna go." I say, with all the courage I can find. "What?" Jordan raises her eyebrows.

"Erh yeah, we're leaving." Erwin says. I stood up and left the restaurant with him.

We both felt the tension in there, Mia knows something about me and Eugene and she's not happy about it.

"Let's head back to the hotel, change into some normal clothes. Then I will bring you out." Erwin says.

"Bring me out where?" I ask, feeling awkward with my skirt.

"Erm, probably the mall to get some real food."

"What flavor do you want?"

"Hm, chocolate." I smiled at the thought of hot chocolate on pretzel.

Erwin got his strawberry one and I got my chocolate one.

"Thanks." I smiled, and bite onto the pretzel.

"You're welcome." He says, his mouth filled with pretzel.

"Avery," he laughs. "What?" I turn to him. He laughs even harder. "How did you even get the chocolate there?" He wipes the chocolate away from my chin with a tissue.

After that, he still couldn't stop laughing. "Shut up, Hunter."

"You got it on your lips now." He points out, "do you know how to eat?"

"Do you think you and Eugene will get back together?"

"No."

"Do you want it to happen?"

"No."

"Why not?"

"He's happy with his future wife, Erwin. He didn't even really broke up with me, I came back expecting something but he 'surprised' me with his new girlfriend." I say with a light chuckle at the end.

I feel the water under my toes, "the night of the bonfire." He says, looking at me. "What happened?"

"Nothing, just sensitive, I guess." I say, shrugging a little.

The cold wind came by and it was relaxing.

People around was either starring at the night sky or just starring at the sea, looking at how beautiful everything is.

"You know we all care about you right? Avery, we're gonna be your friends no matter what happens. Because you're like our savior in some way." He says.

"What?" I let out a laugh, "you will get it one day." He pats my back.

"It's just that, this past year, it has been hard for me." I lick my lips nervously. "And erh, I couldn't deal with everything so I kept it all bottle up inside, making me feel miserable." I admitted.

"My Dad died, my Mum didn't came to the funeral even she was notified. I never even saw her before and all everyone in the family says, I look just like her. After a little while, I got raped in the park."

"What? Did you report to the police?"

"I don't know, I was so scared and lost."

"You're safe with us now, everything's okay." He says, hugging me tightly.

I wish I could stay in his arms forever.

I open the hotel room and Jordan isn't back yet.

I took a quick shower, and wore a tank top and shorts to bed.

But i didn't sleep, I couldn't. I was thinking about what happened earlier today. Oh steaks, it was so embarrassing. I am such a mess, chocolate was all over my face. 

Erwin though..

I smile to myself, then I bite down my bottom lip.
