Chapter 13

Mia wants me to sing for her again, and this time it was a song that meant a lot to me. And to maybe, a lot of other people. 

Eugene's Point Of View

"Where's Avery?" Chloe ask, letting out a giggle at the end. "I don't know, she didn't return my calls or messages." I replied. 

"Erh because you're her ex-boyfriend?" I look at the blonde girl, with my eyebrows raised. 

"You don't remember me, do you?" She raised her right brow at me. 

"You have a familiar voice.." Sam says. 

"Casey Daniels, the girl who always wear short skirts!" She exclaimed, "oh my god!" Our eyes widen. 

"You look so different, you're not even wearing skirts anymore." Zach pointed out to her outfit, which is just a plain white blouse and jeans. 

"This is like high school reunion." Erwin stated. 

"Oh my god, Casey Daniels?" Jordan steps out with Mia. Mia looks at all of us with confusion. 

"Come on, we need to get to the venue." Mia says. 

Mia and Jordan rush out, "that's your future wife?" Casey pointed to Mia. 

"Erh maybe." I muttered. 

"You're an idiot! Avery is- Ugh fuck it." Casey throws her hands up in the air and left with Chloe.

We arrived at the venue and took our seats, "too bad Avery couldn't be here." Zach says. 

I bite on my bottom lip, "Zach, you want to help me with something?"

Why must it be this song? 

Maybe she went through something similar like me. 

The song is by Simple Plan, it's called Welcome To My Life.

I stood behind the blue curtains, with the lyrics sheet in my hands. 

The song started and i started singing, I close my eyes while I sang. I only see me and Eugene together. 

His smile, his eyes, his hugs.

Oh steaks. 

The song is ending soon, and suddenly the blue curtains fell. It reveals me, standing in the spotlight. My eyes widen slightly and bite on my bottom lip nervously. 

"Eugene, why would you do that?!" Mia yelled at him, the crowd gasps at her. 

Mia runs off the stage and Zach grab my wrist and pull me back in. 

"Why would you guys do that? Are you guys insane?" I ask the both of them, "they deserve to know the truth." Zach says. 

"By the way, amazing voice!" Zach added, smiling. 

"Oh god," I put the lyrics sheet over my face in embarrassment. "I think I will see you guys later, or tomorrow." I say, leaving. 

"Avery!"

"Hey Mum." I smile slightly, "hey kiddo! I am really late for work, I have steaks in the fridge so you just heat it up." She hugs me quickly and opens the front door.

I walk up the stairs, "Avery, Eugene is here to see you!" 

My eyes widen when I reach my room. 

 "Avery, is something wrong?" Eugene steps into my room, I bite on thumb nervously before turning around and facing him. 

"Ever since I left, and we have a long distance relationship. I thought it was going well until you stopped calling me one day and so i thought you were busy and you will call the next day but you didn't. And it goes on for weeks till high school reunion." 

"To be honest, I thought I would hug you instead of seeing you with Mia. Why did you do that to me, Hunter?" A tear roll down my cheek. 

"Avery-" He was cut off by his phone ringing. 

He took it out and let out a groan, "look I need to go, I am so sorry." He hugs me tightly and ran out.

My phone rings, my eyes flutter open. It's 1.30am. 

Who will call me at this time? I answer it without seeing the caller ID. 

"Hi Avery, is it?" 

"Uh yeah.. Who is this?" I sit up on my bed. "I am a bartender. And your boyfriend asked me to call you to pick him up, he's drunk." 

My eyebrows furrowed at what he said, "who's my boyfriend?" I muttered. 

"Uh.. His name is Eugene, apparently."

I reach the club in no time, I used Aaron's car without his permission. "Hey, I am Avery." I say, looking at Eugene who's cheeks are red. 

"Yeah, your man have some serious problems." The bartender says, I nodded slightly and help him out to Aaron's car. 

I drove him back to the beach house, with him talking about butterflies flying around. 

I open the front door and we walk down the hallway. "You know, I dated a girl named Avery before." He says. 

"I am the girl who is named Avery and you dated before." I stated. He chuckles lightly, "you're such a cutie." He leans on to me, kissing me on the cheek. 

"Eugene! You're heavy!" I groan, helping him into his room. I drop him on his bed, "I broke up with Mia today." 

"You did?!" My eyes widen with surprise. "Yeah, she wants me to pay for all the wedding things we have already planned." 

"How much?" I raise my eyebrows. "About the price of this house." He murmurs, knocking on the wall lightly. 

This house is big, like huge and pretty. 

It's gonna cost a lot. My eyebrows furrowed slightly, "I love you, Evans. You were like the other part of me. Even though you play soccer and I play basketball. But i just love you, Evans." 

A tear fell at what he drunkenly said. 

"I don't know what happened. I met Mia at a bar that Erwin dragged me into, we were at the club. You know the one night we didn't talk? And.. After a week or so, she told me she was pregnant with my child. And so, we have to get married." 

"It was so rushed, I didn't even thought that it would be mine. I don't even know her." He groans softly and put his hand on his forehead. 

"And so, she lost the baby like literally after a week. But half of the wedding was planned, invites was already sent so I have to marry her." 

"But I never stopped loving you, Avery. And during school and basketball practice, you're all I can think about. Busy or not. I missed you." 

He then let out a breath, "stay with me tonight."
