sports is friendship; sports is health, sports is education, sports is life, sports brings the world together.
Chapter 8
"EEK!" Jordan squeals, "what? Did you saw a mice?" I ask, raising my eyebrows. "No! There's so many shops! Which one do we go to first?"
"Easy, the sports store." I replied, "okay, how about we go wherever we want and meet here by noon and we can have lunch together." Mum says.
"Your Mum is great." Nathan says, "now I see where you get your niceness from." He then added.
We went to the arcade, I ended up playing a shooting game with Erwin.
"Hey Avery, try to beat me at dancing." Sam says, "just because you play soccer, doesn't mean you can dancing."
I chuckled and step onto the platform, Sam chose the song and set the level to medium.
"Sam, I hate you!" I say as it gets more extreme.
;
After the arcade, the boys went to a clothing store. I was at the girls' section, I search mostly for sweaters because they're plain.
Ugh steaks, I am too plain.
"Hey Evans, see anything you like?" Zach asks, "nope." I replied, going over to the sunglasses and hats.
"Not even me?" Erwin joked, pouting. "You hunter's are so cocky." I stated, referring to Eugene and Erwin.
"Hey, it runs in the family." Eugene laughs, looking at the tanktops.
;
We met back at the same spot, and the girls bought a whole lot of things. Mum seems happy, everyone is happy, we should all be happy.
We head to have tacos. I sit in-between Erwin and Jordan. "So what did you buy?" Jordan ask, "bought earrings, sunglasses, a hat, a flower crown.. I have no idea why." I squint my eyes at the wooden table.
"You're funny." Jordan stated.
"So what's after this?" Erwin ask, "erm, we're bringing Avery to shopping." Jordan replied. "What?"
"Yeah, you need more dresses." Jordan says, "ha." Erwin covers his mouth with his hand immediately.
"But I don't need dresses."
"You're a girl, you need dresses."
"Zach!"
"Jordan, she doesn't need dresses." Zach covers up for me, "don't argue with me, boy! She's coming, and you guys will be there too." Jordan snaps at him.
Zach groans and lean back at his seat. "You suck." Nathan says to him.
;
"Ugh, I can't seem to fit this dress." Mia groans softly, "maybe you need a bigger dress." I say. "No way! I have always been a size 5! I can't go higher than that."
"Dear, I know you're a model but it's okay." Mum assured her.
I regret coming out.
;
After a day of torture, going from store to store. We finally got back to the beach house where I am staying over for probably a week or two.
"Hey, so tomorrow night me and Jordan are going to perform." Mia says, "oh, Jordan's singing?" Eugene raises his eyebrows.
"We both are." Mia says, "come on, we gotta go try out clothes!" Jordan says excitedly. "Hang on." Eugene laughs, aw he's adorable.
"I am sorry, babe but your singing is horrible." He stated. "Ouch." I mumbled, "oh, don't worry. I got practice!" Mia says, skipping up the stairs. "Come on, Drew, join us!" Jordan exclaims.
"Why did you just call me by my middle name?" I raise my eyebrows, "because it sounds more like a girl instead of Avery or Evans!"
"What's wrong not being like a girl?" I ask, walking up the stairs. "It's weird and different."
Oh.
;
"Erwin, where's my room?" I ask, entering his room. "Erm, next to Zach's." He replies, looking up from his phone.
"Or you can join me?" He then added. "Yeah, I rather not.." I mumbled. "Aw, come on. I am lonely." He whines.
"Fine," I close the door and sit next to him. "Hey, we're playing soccer tomorrow noon." He says.
"Oh, I still got the soccer cleats you guys gave me." I say, "wow! That's old." He says.
"We should've bought you a new one, like for your 19th birthday or something." He says, "nah, I really need nothing." I shrug.
"You need Eugene right?" He ask in a soft tone, "nah, I got you guys and the basketball team.. It's all cool." I shrug.
I am trying to move on from Eugene, despite waiting for him for a year and so. Ugh.
"Does the guys include Jordan and Mia?"
"Erm.. Steaks." I bite down my bottom lip, he chuckles lightly.
His hand trail across my right cheek gently, I flinch slightly.
"Relax, it's just me." He whispers, pushing my hair away from my face.
"You know I never work well with girls.. Except for Lydia and probably Casey." I say.
"Wow, that goes way back." Erwin says, "yeah.. I miss Lydia." I say, leaning back at the wall.
"Did you guys have fun at homecoming?" I ask, "yeah, but we missed you."
"And i am here now, I just don't know what to do after summer finishes."
"Come back home."
"I don't know, Erwin. When I thought home, I thought of Eugene's arms. But now, I just think about the home back here in New York."
"Aw," he groans softly. Then we stayed quiet.
"Avery." He says, turning to look at me.
"Yeah?" I turn to look at me.
His soft lips slowly met mine, he place his hand on my cheek.
He smiles slightly, his nose gently touching mine.
He then pulls away, "er.." He mutters. "It's fine." I smiled, biting down my bottom lip.
Oh steaks, this is awkward.
I feel so bad and i don't know why, just guilt.
"Avery, you okay?" He ask, grabbing my hand. Oh boy. "Yeah fine." I nod slightly, "i am gonna get food." I say, walking out of the room.
I took out a tub of vanilla ice-cream, "what are you doing?" Zach ask. I sit on the counter, "eating my sadness away." I mumbled.
"Aw, Avery." Zach hugs me, "what's going on?"
"I don't know." I grab the spoon and open the tub. It's empty.
"Who the steaks put an empty tub of ice-cream back into the fridge?!"
