5pm
Jack was extremely drugged up and exhausted. He’d just drifted back to sleep. “Mrs Kennedy, the President probably won’t wake up till the morning now, why don’t you go back to the hotel and rest?” Dr Carrico suggested.
Jackie nodded. “Ok, if anything happens please let me know.”
“I will don’t worry Mrs Kennedy.”
Jackie nodded and kissed her husband. She went into the hall to find the double amount of secret service agents as before. Clint and Jerry covered her as she walked outside to the car. The press stared in disbelief at the state of the First Lady. She ignored them and opened the car door herself and got in.
Hotel
When they arrived at the hotel, Clint guided her up to the suite. “Thank you Mr Hill.”
“No problem Mrs Kennedy, I’m very glad the President is alright.”
“Me too. Night Mr Hill.” Jackie said before closing the door.
Once she was alone she went and closed the curtains. She slowly unbuttoned her jacket and left it on the bed. She slipped out of her skirt and left it crumpled on the floor. Her stockings were soaked in blood; she pulled them off slowly and left them with her shoes. She went into the bathroom and ran a bath.
Once she got in, the warm water relaxed her. She slowly washed her legs before lying back and thinking about the day’s events. She suddenly began to cry. She got out and dried herself before pulling a robe on. When she walked into the bedroom Ladybird was sitting on the bed. Jackie looked startled. “Ladybird.” Jackie said surprised.
“Sorry I didn’t mean to scare you, I was worried about you.”
“It’s okay.” Jackie said as she sat down beside her. “I’m ok really.”
“If you need to talk promise you’ll come find me.”
Jackie nodded. “I will thank you Ladybird.”
After Ladybird had left Jackie changed into her pyjamas. It may only be 6pm but it had been one hell of a day. Without much objection she drifted to sleep.
6am
Jackie was woken by a pounding on the door. She got up quickly and answered the door. Clint was standing; he looked like he’d only slept for a few hours. “The hospital just phoned they want you there now.”
She nodded and closed the door. She changed quickly, pulling a shirt and a pair of chinos on. After quickly washing her hair she grabbed Jack’s favourite pull over and headed for the hospital.
7am
Parkland Hospital
The press were frantic as Jackie walked past. She had no makeup on but she didn’t care. When she reached Jack’s room Dr Carrico met her. “Good morning Mrs Kennedy.”
“Jackie is fine.”
Dr Carrico nodded. “Ok Jackie, your husband is showing signs of distress so we thought it was better you were here.”
She nodded and followed him into the room.
Jack slowly opened his eyes. “Jackie?”
“I’m here.” She said taking his hand.
“I love you, please don’t leave me.” Jack said.
“Bunny I’m not going anywhere I promise.” Jackie replied.
“Mr President, how are you feeling today?” Dr Carrico asked.
“Numb.”
Dr Carrico nodded. “Later today we’ll see if you can sit up.”
“Ok.”
After Dr Carrico had left, Jackie held his hand. “How did you sleep?”
“Hellish, I kept having horrific nightmares about yesterday.” Jack whispered with tears in his eyes.
“It’ll be okay I’ll help you I promise.” Jackie smiled.
Jack burst into tears. “I love you.”
“I love you too Jack.”
