Chapter 3: Confession

When you arrived home with Ryder, you were feeling very strange. Your cheeks went red and you knew, that you couldn't hold it in any longer...You wanted to confess your feelings to him, but you were afraid...Afraid, that he might reject you. After you and Ryder entered the home and locked the door, you went up to your room and locked the door to protect yourself from the zombies like yesterday. When you were inside, you looked at his family picture again. Remembering his story, you felt sympathy for him again.

"He doesn't have a family anymore...He's the only one left alive. Just like me. He told me about his brother back at the lake and how much fun he had with him...I miss my family too. I really want to be with him, he really seems lonely without his family. But how will i tell him..."

Your cheeks started to go red again, when you thought about this serious matter more...you didn't know, what you wanted to say. You really were afraid, that he might reject you...

What were you supposed to do in this situation?

Ryders POV

After me and Y/N entered my home, i noticed she was behaving strangely, almost like she was hiding something from me...I was a little concerned, because she wasn't actually trying to hide it, she was struggling with something in her mind. But i don't know what's troubling her...Is she still messed up about her past? Perhaps. She lost her family in a brutal way and i could tell, that she couldn't shrug it off that easily. Poor thing...I need to be there for her. If i stay with her, she will forget about it and become more happy again. I want to see her smile...It would make me happy to see her happy.

Maybe when i'm done with this zombie crowd, i will talk to her and tell her, how i feel. She really looks like, she needs someone to care for her.

But not now...i need to focus now!

Your POV

It's been 20 minutes and Ryder still wasn't back. You started to worry about him and you wanted to get out and help him, but you didn't want to put yourself in danger. Besides, you remembered that you wasted all your pistol ammo on the graveyard yesterday, so you couldn't even do anything to help him. You felt bad for not being able to do something...What if he gets hurt? He's the only one left alive in this world besides you and you don't want to lose him. If he dies, you will be alone again. You didn't want to...you wanted to stay with him.

Then you heard a knock...You got up and opened it to see Ryder standing there giving you a smile and a thumbs up.

"All done!"

You giggled and hugged him, to which he froze for a bit there. But then he returned the hug and you felt more confident. Ready to confess everything to him...

"I'm so glad you're safe. I was worried about you. Are you okay?", you said while looking up at him.

"I'm fine. Don't worry. I told you i am a tough guy, didn't I?"

"You did. Are you okay? They didn't hurt you, did they?"

"Of course they didn't. They barely got to me."

Your face became red again, you knew that you need to tell him. You couldn't keep it a secret any longer. You had to confess your feeling to him now...You walked towards the bed and sat down, he did the same..

"Ryder.....I....have to tell you something.", you started to shiver, afraid of his reaction.

"What is it? You can tell me, i won't be mad....", he said comforting, like he wanted to take your fear away.

"I wanted to....tell you..., that i am really happy, that you are here with me.", you didn't want to get to the point right away, you were too afraid...

"Me too...I have also something to tell you...", he answered. You looked up at him and saw, that he also struggled with something on his mind.

"What is it?", you asked curiously about what he wanted to say.

"I wanted to say that....", he was silent for a few seconds before talking again.

"....i like you more than you think, i don't think of us as friends anymore. I...want us to be together...I love you, Y/N."

Hearing what he just said made you gasp in surprise...He really did have feelings for you. You were flattered and shocked at the same time. He confessed his love to you and you knew, that you couldn't reject him, because you felt the same way.

"To tell you the truth....i feel the same way about you, Ryder!"

"Really?"

"Yes, i wanted to tell you before, but i was afraid...Afraid that you wouldn't accept my feelings...But i am glad, that you feel that way. I never want to leave you. I want to stay with you."

"Oh Y/N", he said before hugging you. You returned the hug and you felt relieved, that he felt the same way about you. You felt more happy again thanks to him and you never wanted to leave him. He became a important thing in your life...even the most important of all things in your life. He broke away from the hug and looked at you. You looked at each other deep into the eyes and soon your lips collided. The kiss felt like fireworks and you really were glad, that it turned out this way. After you kissed, you broke away and hugged each other again.

"Thank you Y/N, you really made me happy with that response..."

"I'm glad i did, i don't want to lose you. I don't want to be alone anymore."

"Don't worry, my love. We will stay together forever...No matter what happens, i will keep you safe. I promise...", he said rubbing your back while kissing your cheek.

"Thank you, Ryder. I really appreciate you being there for me", you said before you started to yawn, feeling tired.

"Do you need sleep? You look tired...", he asked while smiling at you, still happy about the success of his confession.

"I do...It's been a hard day, i need a good sleep..."

"Alright then, sweetie. I'll leave you alone then, ok? Good night, Y/N!, he said standing up, but you stopped him.

"Ryder...i don't want you to leave me here all alone... Can you stay here for the night? I think, i will sleep better when you watch over me."

He looked back at you and smiled. Letting him sleep with you would really make him happy.

"Of course i will, Y/N. I would like to cuddle you to sleep, darling.", he said.

"Thank you, Ryder. Just give me a few minutes to get ready...could you...you know?"

"Oh...of course, sorry."

You said that you wanted a bit privacy to change, you didn't want to embarass yourself, as you were really shy with exposing parts of your body to others. You changed into your sleepwear, while you heard that Ryder was changing as well. Part of you wanted to turn around and watch him change, but you quickly scolded yourself internally for that thought, not wanting to make yourself look like a pervert. Once you were done, you gave Ryder a signal, that you were ready and you both turned around to look at each other.

"After you, cutie.", he said while motioning his hand towards the bed like a gentleman.

You nodded and laid yourself down on the bed with him lieing down right next to you.

"Good night, Y/N. Sweet dreams...", he said while putting a arm of his around your side and pulling the blanket over you two.

"You too, Ryder. Sweet dreams...", you said, before you drifted off to sleep...
