Chapter 7: Shameful Accusations

While driving home, you never noticed that it was nighttime already. You and Ryder never paid attention to the time and so you looked at the full moon at the sky worried. What if something bad happens now? Will you be okay?

"Damnit!"

You were brought off your thinking, when Ryder tensed up. There were zombies in front of you blocking your path. Ryder tried to avoid them, but crashed his motorcycle in the attempt, making you lose consciousness because of the impact.

Ryders POV

Damnit...Not again. Why can't they just leave us alone? I got up quickly and looked for Y/N. She was lying there on the ground and the zombies are walking towards her.

"Y/N!"

I didn't receive a response, she must have passed out...I ran to her and protected her from the zombies. When i noticed an opening, i quickly picked Y/N up bridal style and ran to an dark alleyway, with the zombies chasing me. I need to get her safe as quick as i can. I walked further into the dark alleyway with Y/N in my hands, until i saw her old home in a reachable distance. We should be safe there... I ran towards the house, dodging every zombie i passed and kicked the door open. I quickly put Y/N on the bed in her old room, closed and locked her door and closed the front door, blocking it with my back. This is bad...i need to find a way to protect ourselves...

Your POV

You opened your eyes, just to find yourself in the same dark hallway from your nightmare again. You were worried and wanted to find a way out.
You knew already how terrifying your nightmare was and wanted to wake up as quick as possible.
You kept running and then started to see Ryder in the distance...

"Ryder!"

You walked towards him, but you couldn't shrug the feeling off, that something is wrong. You heard chewing sounds coming from him. You noticed, that he looked down at something while making these sounds. Then he turned to you. The sight of your eyes then almost made you puke. His mouth was full of blood and you noticed a human head in his hands. And not just any human head. It was your father's head. You frightened at this and were paralyzed by that discovery. He dropped the head and began to walk towards you. You were still paralyzed and then he grabbed you. He grabbed your neck and applied pressure. The strength of his grip was so strong, that you began choking and feeling pain in your neck area. You tried to break free, but he was too strong. Then after a snapping sound everything went black.
With a gasp, you awoke in your old room's bed and were sweating heavily. You were still shaking by that nightmare and were afraid...afraid of Ryder himself. He killed you...in your dream. You started to question his loyalty...Can you really trust him?
What if he is hiding his true nature from you? What if he is still a zombie, that still wants to kill people? But then something hit your mind...What if he was responsible for your family's death? The head he hold in his hands was your father's. Maybe he was the one, who ruined your past. And now he would try to act nice to you, but deep inside he could have plans to finish you off as well. Thinking about that made you more scared and you wanted to stay away from Ryder...You didn't want to take any risk. You need to save yourself...You noticed an open window in your room and you heard moaning sounds from outside, signaling that there were zombies outside. If they are here, then...
Suddenly your room door was opened and you saw Ryder.

"Y/N? Are you okay?"

You screamed and tried to get out the window, but Ryder stopped you.

"Y/N! You can't go out there. You'll get hurt!"

You pushed him away and jumped out the window, you were afraid of him and wanted to escape him as fast as you could.

"Y/N! Come back!"

You began running past any zombie you saw, until you reached an dark alleyway...

Ryders POV

I began to feel hurt by her sudden action. What is wrong with her? Why is she acting like this all of a sudden?
She had fear in her eyes...Is she afraid of me? Did she have another nightmare? Whatever it was, it terrified her...
I ran after her, i need to snap her out of it...I need to find out, what's wrong. She ran towards the alleyway i passed earlier and so i was able to catch up to her, but when i got there, she wasn't there.

"Y/N? Where are you? Please show yourself, i want to talk..."

Your POV

You were hiding in an old dumpster. You were afraid and didn't want to get out to let him kill you. Then you heard him talk again.

"Y/N, if you are afraid of me, then you can tell me, i won't be mad or do something to you. Please, you have to believe me..."

You started to regain trust, so you opened up the bin quietly to peek on Ryder. He was looking around for you and you saw sorrow in his eyes. Looks like he noticed your terrified behavior...

"If i wanted to do anything to you, i wouldn't have saved you from the zombies on the graveyard that day..."

He was right, you almost forgot...Why would he even think about hurting you, when he saved you...If he really wanted to do anything to you, then he would have done so in your most vulnerable state.

"Please Y/N, i really don't want to do anything bad to you. Please...don't leave me..."

His tone got more sad and you knew, that he wasn't lying. You remembered everything you and Ryder have done together. He saved you...He vowed to protect you. He would never...ever lie to you. You made a mistake. The nightmare you were having earlier made you think, that Ryder was a horrible person. But he isn't...
You opened the bin fully and climbed out, crying...You made him worry and you were willing to take any punishment for this stupid mistake.

"Y/N,I..."

You immediately hugged him, sobbing into his chest. You felt guilty and you wanted to apologize.

"I'm sorry...I'm...so...sorry."

"What are you talking about? You don't have anything to apologize for...If you really want to blame someone, blame me...I am the one, who made you think this way...I am a zombie after all..."

"A zombie that is way more alive then the others...I never encountered such a zombie ever before. I'm sorry for doubting you."

"Hey...it's ok, i understand..."

You sobbed harder into his chest, still ashamed of yourself. You thought the dream was the reality and you fell for it.

"Listen, you're not alone anymore...We stick together, got it? Come on, let's go home. We shouldn't be here any longer..."

You nodded and broke away from his chest, walking back to Ryder's motorcycle...Luckily, it was still intact, so Ryder pulled it up and got in the drivers seat, while you sat down on the backseat. Then you both drove back home...
