We splashed and played in the water for a few hours, but there was an obvious tension. Lane and Kate had been arguing all day, and not ever really seeing them do this or even know remotely what was going on, I decided to interrupt.

I knocked on the pool house door, but they couldn't hear me.

"Guys, what's going on?" I asked concerned as I walked in. They both looked exhausted and had been crying, I didn't quite know what to say.

"I'm pregnant!" Kate said in a very shaky voice, as Lane tried to comfort her.

"I.......I......," I didn't know what to say. They both had athletic scholarships and this would certainly change their plans. Then, I thought of them with a baby and I smiled.

"You know these things don't happen by chance, especially on birth control, they happen for a reason," and I smiled as I wiped her tears.

"We are gonna go, y'all need to rest and figure things out. Call me if you need me, okay? It's all gonna be great, I promise!" I said with a wide smile as I hugged them.

As I walked to Dylan, he had a puzzled look on his face unable to read my expression. He wrapped a towel around me and hesitated to let go.

I smiled at that, as he hugged me from behind and whispered,"You gonna tell me what's going on?" Running his nose along my neck.

"Let's get outta here, I'll tell you about it in the truck," I said giggling, pulling him towards the truck.

"Where to?" he asked confused.

"Well, I'm not sure, but they need to be alone. Kate is pregnant" I answered still shocked myself. "Wow... that's..." He gasped, just as shocked as I was. "I told them to call if they need anything," I said softly as I noticed him grinning at me. "What?" I asked shaking my head.

He just leaned in and kissed me sweetly, hesitating to stop.

"You are great, really great, do you know that? So beautiful, so kind, so smart, so strong, so generous," he said happily as I smiled looking up at him.

"How about we grab a quick lunch, but I wanna take you to dinner later? Sound good?" He asked sweetly interlocking our fingers.

"Sounds great," I said as we pulled away and headed towards lunch.

We laughed and ate all the way to my house.

He walked me to the door and kissed me sweetly, not letting go of my hand as he went towards his truck.

Smiling and laughing he dragged me back to his truck, "Can't I just take you with me?" he said laughing as he put me in.

He didn't shut the door, he stood between my legs, holding my hands in his,"I..." he started and stopped, shaking his head slightly.

"Dylan?....What is it?....Why are you looking at me like that?" I asked softly, biting my lip, as he looked down at me with his head cocked sideways.

I put my hands around his neck to ease what appeared to be nervousness as he continued to look down at me.

"I'm glad you're not scared of me..........or this......I want to be the kind of man a woman like you is proud to call hers," he said softly looking into my eyes. My lips parted and I drew in a sharp breath at his words and the closeness we shared as he left no space between our bodies.

"You already are, Dylan, don't you know that?" I whispered, as the look on his face told me what I already knew, he didn't know that at all.

I put his face in my hands and gave his nose a brush with mine, which made him smile and he pulled me to his lips.
