Moonrise

Chapter Three

"This changes everything," Rayla said.

"So this is it?" Callum asked. "The egg of the Dragon Prince?"

"I can't believe its still here," I said. "This egg could bring peace between humans and elves."

Rayla knelt down next to the egg and stared at it. Ezran put his hands onto it.

"He's okay in there," Ezran said. "I can feel it."

"It definitely is alive in there," I said. "Its spirit is strong, as is its will to live."

"But how?" Callum asked. "Why wasn't it destroyed."

"Because my father saved it," a girl said from the stairs.

I got frightened and went into my camouflaged state. Rayla turned and held up her swords.

"Claudia," Callum said.

"Callum, Ezran, get behind me," Claudia said. "I can protect you from the elf."

"Elves," I corrected.

"Your father didn't save it," Rayla said. "He stole it."

"That's a lie," Claudia snapped.

Callum stepped fowards. "Then Claudia, why is it here?"

"My father took it to protect us, Callum," Claudia said. "So the elves and dragons couldn't use it."

"What are you talking about?" Rayla asked. "How can we use it?"

"Don't play dumb," Claudia said. "You know its a powerful weapon."

"It's not a weapon," Rayla said. "It's an egg."

"Ezran, don't be afraid," Claudia said. "Walk towards me and if she moves even an inch..."

Claudia made a symbol in the air and I stared at it, mesmerized.

"Just bring that thing here," Claudia said.

"Its not a thing," Rayla said.

"Its a dragon egg," I said. "It has a mother and it needs to go back to her."

"You're right," Ezran said. "It wants its mother."

Callum looked at Claudia then at Ezran, Rayla, and I.

"Ezran, be careful," Claudia said.

Electricity sizled in the air.

"Follow me," Ezran said.

Rayla and Ezran ran. I looked at Claudia and Callum before changing my color.

"Don't worry," Claudia said to Callum. "I won't hit Ez."

Claudia raised her hand and Callum looked at the primal stone in her hand.

"Fullmonus," Claudia said, as Callum snatched the orb from her hand.

Callum put a chain on Claudia's wrist and she said, "Callum, what are you doing?"

"The right thing, I hope," Callum said.

Callum grabbed the primal stone and ran.

"I'm sorry," Callum said.

I ran after him. I heard growling coming from behind me. I could see Rayla and Ezran ahead of me.

"There's something after us," Callum said.

"Where's Willow?" I heard Rayla say.

"Here," I said, but I wasn't heard over the growling.
