Chapter Nine : Laser Madness

"Team form Voltron now! We have to to be ready for whatever pops out of that thing!" Allura orders.

I run for Violet without a moment's hesitation. The team forms Voltron again. "V, join up, we don't know what we're up against yet," Shiro orders me.

"Roger that," I reply and Violet quickly attaches to Voltron.

"Please don't let there be a monster in there. Please let it be empty. Or full of candy. One of those two, either one is fine," Hunk begs quietly.

"I don't think it's a pinata, Hunk," Alec replies from the castle.

"If it's the same type of monster they sent after us on Arus we already know how to beat it," Keith says calmly.

"I doubt they'd send the same one," I reply.

We get out the sword and shield anyway, just in case. Then the thing begins to open and a big cloud of smoke extrudes from within. "Hold your ground!" Shiro yells as a huge monster with two tentacle-like arms emerges. All along its arms are what appear to be laser guns. It has a huge laser gun in the middle of its chest and its eyes are like those of a chameleon or lizard, able to look in two different directions at once.

The laser in the middle of its chest glows and fires a beam of bright green energy at us. We raise the shield but it still starts to shove us backward.

"It's not candy!" Hunk yelps.

"And it's not the same monster either!" Keith yells.

"We told you it wouldn't be!" Alec and I yell at the same time.

"We need to draw its fire away from the Balmera's surface!" Shiro orders. We fly up and avoid another laser from the creature. It continues to shoot at us but we manage to get behind it and go to slash its side. It somehow not only dodges us but fires a laser while we're still close.

'Ow!' Violet yelps as it hits her face on Voltron's chest. I also cry out in pain as the laser hits.

'Violet! Are you alright?' Black asks.

'I think so,' Violet replies.

"V! Are you okay?" Shiro asks.

"Well I didn't break my arm like I did last time so I think so," I reply, "I can't say the same for Violet though, she got hit right in the face."

We fly back up as we avoid more lasers. "We can't hold out!" Lance cries as we block another shot.

'I can't take much more,' Green pants.

"My lion is weakening. If the shield sustains any more structural damage, we're done for!" Pidge reports.

'Me neither,' Red says, as we try to hit the creature with our sword again.

"Pidge's right," Keith agrees.

"Oh sure, Pidge is right. I'm the one who said we can't hold out!" Lance complains.

"Lance, now is not the time," I growl.

'Whoa!' Blue yelps as Lance's complaining makes him lose focus and we fall to the ground with a thud. Another problem, the landing also caused our shield to shatter.

"Ok, team Voltron, disband then take evasive maneuvers. It can't shoot all of us," Shiro orders.

No sooner had we disbanded and begun to fight it separately then the laser guns on its arms light up and new laser blasts fly in every direction. "Ok, nevermind, it can do that too," Shiro grumbles as he and Black dodge the new threat.
