The next day at school, Jane was in such a rush to get to the desk to see what was waiting for her, that she lost her balance. She tripped over someone's backpack sitting by their locker and before she braced herself for her knees to painfully meet the school's shiny floors, a hand pulled her back. The hand grabbed onto her arm, her skin turning warm at the contact as she felt herself being pulled upright as a voice started to speak.

"Nice one, Dustin!" the boy snapped, "I told you to stop leaving your bag on the floor, someone will definitely trip on it!"

The curly haired boy smiled at her sympathetically. "Sorry..."

Jane shook her head as if to tell him that it was okay, glancing back at the person who had saved her. He had dark hair and pale skin, his small smile kind as if he was making sure that she was alright. His tall legs were covered in brown trousers that her grandpa would wear, but they made him look adorable with a cozy sweater to match, pink plump lips asking her if she was okay. She could only nod, the freckles on his cheeks reminding her of the reason why she was running, sending him a small smile before carrying on her way.

When she got to the desk, she forgot all about the previous encounter with nearly falling over a backpack, her cheeks lit up with excitement, turning pink at his messy handwriting. She scribbled her reply quickly, the next few days filled with more of their easy talking and subtle feelings that were beginning to grow.

You wouldn't believe the morning that I have had

Tell me about it, Paladin. I'm sure I can help

My parents didn't buy my favorite cereal so I had to go hungry because I was so depressed. Then my little sister spilled juice down my shirt and I had to change before coming to school. Guess who was late and got detention?

I'm sure your little sister didn't mean to

I know, it isn't her fault the universe hates me

The universe might, but I certainly don't

I like you not holding anything back, El

Well, I wish I could help you feel better about your terrible morning

You made me feel better just by talking to me :)

Stop flirting with me!

I'm not!

Oh...

Wait, unless you want me to. I could totally flirt with you...well, I could try. I have never been good with girls and most of them don't even like me at school

I do

You don't even know who I am

I bet I still would

Will you come trick or treating with me next week?

xxx

Damn. I just did that. Sorry to trick you all..they aren't meeting JUST YET. Please leave a comment, let me know what you thought of this chapter and I wonder who she met in the hallway...hmmmm.... But the cliffhanger may give you some idea of what will happen next! I hope you are excited, because I sure am!<3
