- - - part three / four
- - - Kimmon's POV

I don't know how or when I ended up back in my room, laying in bed, playing the same song over and over again, but it didn't matter. What mattered was that I had figured all this out too late. The man I loved was in love with another, much better man, and there was nothing I could do about it, except live with this regret. It was bittersweet for a moment, I really did believe that I could have my happiness yet at the end of the day, I know I don't deserve someone as precious and good hearted as Copter and I knew that as long as he was happy then I would be happy.

The song continued to play on repeat. The melodic voice washed over me again and I closed my eyes, a stray tear slipping out. I shut my eyes tighter, clutching onto my pillow, until the steady beat of the song began to gently lull me to sleep. But just as I was about to drift away a knock came at my door. I lay there wondering if I really wanted to get up. Whoever it was knocked again, louder this time so I eventually got up with a groan. It didn't make me feel any better when I realised the person who had been plaguing my mind was now standing there, a concerned look adorning his face.

"Hey, Cop. What's up?" I forced a smile onto my face, I hoped Copter wouldn't see right through my façade.

"Are you alright?"

"Yeah! Yeah, I'm totally fine. Why do you ask?"

"Cause you've been listening to the same song for the last hour and I have had to listen to it the entire time since we're neighbours."

I looked down to my feet. "Well... I just really like this song."

Copter gave a small sigh and I knew he didn't buy one bit of it. Instead of trying to argue with him, I walked back towards my bed and Copter followed me in closing the door behind himself before sitting down in the chair opposite my bed.

"Something is bothering you." Said Copter as he focused on my face. I responded with a nod. "Bas mentioned that you seemed distracted, earlier." I glanced up and anxiously bit my inner lip. "He didn't mean to be rude. He's concerned, the same as me."

I sighed and rubbed my face. "I'm sorry, Copter."

"For the music?"

"No for-" I paused. "For bothering you with all this."

I looked to my lap, picking at my nails. I heard Copter getting up and felt the bed sink next to me. Our shoulders brushed, it was like the contact was mocking me now. I never bothered to move away though.

"I noticed you have been acting differently lately and then I realised that you have the look of love written all over your face. I didn't know who it was for, but somewhere in the middle of trying to figure it out, I realised that I love you too. I asked Bas about it and he gave me some clues about the person." Copter made a distressed noise and I couldn't help but chuckle. I looked up to find Copter head hanging low with his jaw clenched, most likely planning to yell at Bas later. "Please don't get mad at Bas. I figured it out on my own first and that all he told me was the person has black hair and funny jokes. Besides, he was only trying to help me. He just wants to see you happy, just like I do." I took a deep breath. "The problem now is that there's only one person I know with black hair and funny jokes, so Copter, I'm sorry."

"P'Kimmon, I-"

"I'm sorry that you now have the burden of me loving you, while you love someone else. Tee is a lucky man, Copter, because you are so precious and special. I hope he brings you happiness and treats you right and I hope that we can at least still be friends. You're my best friend and Copgi, I don't want to lose that. But if it gets too uncomfortable for you, then that's okay. I love you Copter, and I just want you to be happy."

I didn't notice my current state until a drop landed on my hand, I was quick wipe away the tear and look up to Copter. The younger man had his hands covering his face, so I couldn't read his expression so I placed a hand on Copter's shoulder, giving it a reassuring squeeze.

"You don't need to say anything. I've seen the way you look around him. I can tell you really love him. He makes you happy and he deserves you far more than I do."

Copter leaned over, resting his elbows on his thighs. His face was still buried in his hands. His shoulders began to shake and instinctively I wrapped my arms around him, pulling him into a hug, whispering reassuring words to him. I hadn't expected for us to end up crying in bed like this, but then, I realised Copter wasn't crying at all. No, the muffled sounds coming from Copter sounded more like... laughter?

"P'Kim, you idiot," came from Copter's muffled voice.

I pulled back slightly and Copter lifted his head to look at me, an amused glint in his eyes. He giggled and shook his head before calming down.

"Sorry, I'm not trying to be mean and I'm not laughing at you, just answer this one question for me first. Who else has black hair and funny jokes?"

My brows furrowed. "Is this a trick question?" Copter shook his head, still smiling.

Who else has black hair and funny jokes?

Copter stared up at me with an expectant look and I stared back with one of confusion. I pondered why Copter was asking me this to begin with and soon my eyes went wide and my jaw dropped.

"Oh," I muttered. "I'm an idiot." Copter's laugh was all the confirmation that I needed. "Bas was talking about me. The person you love is me. I have raven hair and funny jokes."

I shook my head again and looked away, unable to meet his eyes, but Copter tilted my head back towards him. His hand rested on my cheek, no doubt feeling my warm blush. We gazed at each other warmly like a long kiss, hearts unknowingly beating as one.
