The Walk

Being half asleep, I started to smell something.  Meat? No. Not chicken either. Beef? Not even close. Taking another sniff in the air, I could not figure out what the smell was. I just hoped it was not anything green.

Finally waking up, I look around and noticed Scarlet is not on her bed. Jerking fast to check on her,  I stand on my hind legs with my paws reaching over the bed, she was not there. Sniffing to find her scent, she had stepped out.

I walked out from her room into the open area we were last night.  She was standing over a small fire, and had an oval object in her hand.

"Hello. You're awake! I hope you're feeling much better because I made pancakes!"

Scarlet placed, what I assumed is the "pancake", on a plate (I know a plate when I see one).

"I'm going to put you a little bit of syrup. Dont want to give you and upset stomach. "

Again, thinking what was syrup,  it was like a thick paste coming out from a bottle and covering the top layer of my pancakes and slightly dripping over on the sides.

"Eat up because you and I are going to have a busy day!" Scarlet giggling and placing my plate on the floor.

Let me tell you, I am not a fan of non meat food items, but there is something that Scarlet makes me feel.  I do not know what it is.  Nevertheless, I ate my pancakes and they were quite delicious, especially with syrup.

Scarlet is moving back and forward. She is opening something that gives a nice a slight breeze and then fades when she shuts it. She returns to where she was and flips a pancake in the air perfectly landing on her plate.

"What kind of magic does she have?"

Everything was so calm. Peaceful even.  I had forgotten all of my problems. Scarlet was enjoying her pancakes and I was laying down next to her feet. Sometimes she would drop a small piece of her pancake covered in syrup and I happily ate it.

Scarlet pushes her chair out and returns where she got her plate. "You know," Scarlet said walking towards me, "if I'm going to keep you, then I should give you a name." Scarlet begins to take out a piece of paper from behind her and a writing instrument (we would use feathers and ink).

Trying to look at what she was scribbling.  I stand on my hind legs trying to reach over, Scarlet looks at me and pets my head.

"What if I call you tiny?" Scarlet giggled

"Excuse me?" Looking at myself how big I am, not including my FULL form.

"So many options, but non seem right." Scarlett continued to scribble

I opened my mouth but quickly changed it to a yawn.

"Well, I'll give it some time until a good name hits me. " Scarlet crumbles up the paper and leaves it alone.  "Come on, let's go for a walk!" Seeing her run into her room and back out with different clothes, she opens a door that looks to be too dark inside and pulls out two strange objects.

The one that caught my eye was a long piece of rope with a loop at the end.

Having a flash back from the time when two humans who were trying to catch me, with what looks to be the roughly same object, I went ballistic.

I started growling then turned into a full bark. Scarlet tried to say something but was cut off. I quickly dashed towards Scarlet but only aiming for the object on her left hand.  She freaked and dropped it, I snatched it and started ripping it to shreds, at least I tried, but it was still intact. Having at it for another go, Scarlet grabbed it, and threw it right back where it came from and shut the door.

"Looks like your not a fan of leashes," Scarlet steps away from the door, "ok, can you at least wear this one?" Titling my head, I am trying to figure out what she's holding.  There does not seem to be any rope attached. "Look see, no strings, this just goes around your neck. Plus it's in style.  Black and blue would look go on you."

I sit still, trying to see what the object is as she hooks it around my neck. Instant panic. I start to get away from her holding me, but Scarlet calms me down reassuring me that I am going to be fine.

"Look at that. I looks great on you, even with your light blue fur, which is pretty weird but you're special to me." Scarlet stood up and started walking towards the door.

"I'm not weird. Plenty of other dogs have spots on their fur. Mine just so happens to be a full color."

"Come. And stay close to me, please," Scarlet steps out and I follow behind and wait for her while she fidgets with her door, "let's go!"

Wondering around Scarlet starts talking to herself, or to me I can not really tell at this point, but she makes it fun. Walking by her side she tells me how they, I'm assuming the humans, have built their entire nation as in buildings, food companies, and films with really good special effects (whatever that is).

As we are walking, I catch a scent that makes my mouth drip with saliva. I'm trying to see where the scent is coming from and I see a human surrounded by many more humans and they all seem to be eating what one human had made. Scarlet looks down at me and asked if I wanted a snack. I barked to agree and we begin walking towards it.

"Hey!"

We both stopped and looked at each other before turning around.

"Hey Scarlet, long time no see."

I was noticing Scarlet's body language, clearly showing she did not want to be here or even speaking to this human. I placed myself in front of Scarlet and the human stops.

"Now I see you got a weird guard dog. Did you finally go full retart." The human doing a finger motion over his head.

"No, I recused her," Scarlet pats on her thighs to signal me to continue walking.

"Hey! I'm not done with you." The human tries to reach for us, but I bared my fangs. "Let's go back to the way highschool was. You know the good old days." Conner plastered a smile that was creppy to look at.

Looking at Scarlet, she was not doing well. In fact, I have never seen a human breath rapidly. She was in such a state of shock she completely froze on the spot.

"Get lost mut." The human tries to kick me. "NO! Stop. . . Connor!" Scarlet tries to speak, in doing so she distracted the human. I lunge at Conner, making contact with his left hand.

Biting down and not letting go, Connor didn't scream, just grunting.
He uses his right hand to pull me away, I bit down harder, tasting the blood and feeling my fang scratch on the bone.

"Stop it let go!" Connor finally screams.

I was not going to let him go easily. Using my weight, I touched the ground with my back paw and pushed forward, pinning him down. His hand still caught in my mouth, face to face, I bit down one last time dripping his own blood on his face.
Scarlet finally gets her grip as she calls me back. I let go. Connor tries to stand up, seeing his hand made him stumble backwards until I let out a bark, he was gone. Scarlett and I did the same.

Night time was upon us. Scarlet was still in panic mode. Looking outside, running around with objects to block the doors, and not turning on the lights. I tried to reassure her that everything is fine by placing my paw on her lap. Though her smile was there but quickly faded when she looked up at me.

"I should give you a bath." Scarlet's voice sounding a little shaky.

Entering the "bathroom" I saw a reflection of myself and saw the dried up blood was stuck to my mouth and fur.
"That it's pretty scary"

After my bath, Scarlet seemed more calm. We had been watching her favorite show about two, I guess their not considered human but at the same time they are, but they hunt supernatural creatures and banish them. Pretty crazy stuff humans watch.

"Imagine supernatural creatures walking among us," Scarlet chuckled at the thought and continued watching her show. I wagged my tail and gave her a soft bark.
"You have no idea."
