Chapter 1: The Vanishing of Will Byers

Roxanna's Pov

I'm with my best friends Dustin, Lucas, and Will and twin brother Mike. We're playing Dungeons and Dragon.

"Something is coming. Something hungry for blood." Mike says.

"A shadow grows on the wall behind you, swallowing you in darkness." I say.

"It is almost here." Mike and I say.

"What is it?" Will asks in a small quiet voice.

"What if it's the Demogorgon?" Dustin asks.

"Oh, Jesus, we're so screwed if it's the Demogorgon." Dustin says.

"It's not the Demogorgon." Lucas says.

"An army of troglodytes charge into the chamber!" Mike says putting the piece on the board.

"Troglodytes?" Dustin questions dumbfounded.

"Told ya." Lucas says. They giggle. Dustin snorts making me giggle.

"Wait a minute. Did you hear that?" Mike asks.

"That...that sound? Boom boom. Boom!" Mike says slamming the table and shouting the last boom scaring them.

"That didn't come from the troglodytes." Mike says.

"No, that...that came from something else." I say.

"The Demogorgon!" Mike says sitting down the piece. They groan.

"We're in deep shit." Dustin says.

"Will, your action!" Mike and I say.

"I don't know!" Will says.

"Fireball him!" Lucas commanded.

"I'd have to roll a 13 or higher!" Will says.

"Too risky. Cast a protection spell." Dustin says.

"Don't be a pussy. Fireball him!" Lucas says.

"You know I hate that word Lucas." I say.

"Cast Protection." Dustin says. Mike slams his hands on the table again.

"The Demogorgon is tired of your silly human bickering! It stomps towards you. Boom!" Mike says. Lucas' eyes widen.

"Fireball him!" Lucas says.

"Another stomp, boom!" I say.

"Cast Protection." Dustin says.

"He roars in anger!" Mike says.

"Fireball!" Will shouts as he rolls. The dices roll of the table.

"Oh, shit!" Mike says as we get up and look for it.

"Where'd it go? Where is it?" Lucas asks.

"I don't know!" Will answers.

"Is it a 13?" Dustin asks.
