23.| Until We Meet Again

Zhengting's POV

The day where I had to say goodbye to her was painful.

We drove to the airport in silence. In which... I really regret.

Even though I'm good at flirting with girls... for some reason. Flirting or confession to Yangmi was something I could never do.

"Zhengting. You don't have to come in and send me off. Driving me to the airport was enough." She says once we parked in front of the airport.

I put on a fake smile and shook my head. "Nonsense. Your parents aren't even here to send you off. So it's the least that I could do."

We both got out of the car. I went to the back of the car and grabbed her suitcases. I truly, really wanted time just to stop. Walking to the front is going to fast.

"Passengers flight to Seattle. Your flight will be leaving soon."

The announcement went off... and. Suddenly I felt this pain, not physically. But mentally.

We stopped at her gates. She turned around and smiled brightly, extending her hand out.

I was a bit confused at first, but in the end, I took it.

"Thank you for teaching me what I need to know and for being my roommate." She says happily. Yangmi was about to take back her hand when I held on tighter.

She looked back with a confused face. "Something wrong?" She asks.

Come one Zhu Zhengting! You can do this!

I pulled on her hand, making her whole body jerk towards me. I hugged her one last time before leaving.

"I love you," I whispered before letting go, turning my back and walking away.

I walked away because I didn't to be rejected. And even if she said I love you back... it doesn't mean we could even be together. She has her dream and career while I have mine. I can't let my selfishness get to the best of me.

I have to do what's best for her... and for that is America.

Third Person POV

4 years later.

"President Zhu! You are on the cover of CHINA FORBES magazine for being the richest CEO! How does it feel to obtain such a title at 28 years old?"

Zhengting was currently doing an interview, because as of now. He is named the richest CEO of China.

"It is an honour to have a title like that. I truly will continue to work harder."

The cameras continued to flicker and flashes. Zhengting stood there and smiled, showing his best angles.

When the conference was over. Zhengting got in his car with his driver and security team.

"Is there more info on Yangmi?" He asked. One of his assistants handed him an iPad, showing him everything that is happening so far in America.

She became an honour student for 3 years in a row. Yangmi was actually graduating today.

I sent her flowers and a card yesterday, hoping that it will get to her on time.

"That little girl. She's graduating as a doctor now." I chuckled to myself.

Your POV

"Mama! Baba!" I happily cheered when I saw them.

"Awe!! My daughter is now a doctor!!" Mama said with teary eyes.

It was my graduation day. After 4 years of studying, I'm finally a doctor... my dream has finally come true.

Though... he's not here to congratulate me.

"Yangmi-ah. Zhengting sent you this." Baba then handed me some flowers and a card.

Hello BMW girl. How have you been?
Congratulations on becoming a doctor. Come back soon, okay?

I closed the card and smiled softly. It was a shame that he isn't here... and after he said "I love you" to me. I feel like he just said in the moment. Besides, it's been over 4 years. Why would he still wait? In those 4 years, we haven't called each other once. I'm sure things would be awkward now.

"Yangmi-ah. Since now you graduated. I have a friend who is the owner of a hospital. Come back to China." Baba says calmly. I thought for a while.

Maybe it's time to go back.

"Okay!"

"Wonderful. I'll call my friend and get your office ready! From now on we might have to call you Dr.Chung."

I did not hear what my parents said after that. I was just thinking of Zhengting... thinking what would happen if I actually had the chance to see him again.
