"Brian, babe, are you packed?" I asked the night before the big family trip.
"Yes . . ."
"Am I gonna have to pack for you?"
"Yes." Jessalyn said, laughing at her dad.
"Knock it off you two, I can pack my own bag." he argued.
"Why you don't do it daddy?" Jessie asked.
"I have time." he said.
"B, we're leaving tomorrow morning." I countered.
"Right . . ."
"Let me guess, he still hasn't packed?" Mia asked, standing in the door of my old room.
As much as we love our house, in the past four and a half years we've outgrown it. While Nico and Jessie were babies it really wasn't a problem but as they got bigger we needed more space as family. So Vince, Mia, Nico, Letty and Dom still live in the house but Brian, Jessalyn and I have moved out.
We found a house near Dom and Mia, four bedroom that was more than enough space for us. We have talked about having another baby now that Jessie's four and going on five in a few months so he wanted to have the space and a guest room for whenever our people come over.
It's really pretty on the inside, surprisingly enough Brian took care of everything and I really love our house, especially the bathroom. Big shower and soak tub with his and hers vanity. We even have a little balcony off of our room where we have two seats. It's our home and we really love it, even more so than the house in Tenerife.
We've been back there and Brian keeps it maintained for us as a vacation home. Jessie loves it because it's so close to the water just like her auntie Mia's house. Everyone has settled down pretty well and that in itself was surprising to all of us. We didn't expect to take to the white picket fence life so easily.
Brian hasn't taken to the white picket fence very well. He tries to hide it from me and he can't, not very well. I haven't mentioned anything just because I'm waiting on him. I know him, he talks about things at his own pace and I don't want to pressure him. He'll talk about it when he feels ready to do so.
"No, he hasn't. Tonight I'll pack when we go home and we'll meet you all here in the morning." I told my cousin.
"Don't feel bad, I'm packing for Vince tonight too." she sighed.
"I don't even bother to pretend that I will because she knows I never do it." the man in question said as he walked by my room.
"Lazy ass." I shouted.
"Hey!" Brian argued.
"Oh you too, go on O'Conner, get dinner ready with the guys. Mia and I are going to do the girl talk thing." I told him.
"Yeah, I'm getting out of here. Love you babe, I'm gonna go and buy some beers for later." he said, kissing me and walking out of the room.
"Are you ready for the yearly Tenerife trip?" Mia asked, sitting on my bed.
"I can't wait, kindergarten starts in three weeks, I'm not at the restaurant for the next two weeks and the guys closed the garage. I'm so ready." I told her, laying down next to her.
"I can't believe that you went back to the restaurant." she said.
"I love cars and I'll work in the garage on the weekend but I need space, Mia. I can't be around all of them all day. After everyone left I got used to being around people, other people and I love it. I also love the restaurant business, I like being a waitress. It's just different now because I work in a more upscale restaurant."
