Chapter 8

"Does Brian know?" Ramsey asked in her super sexy accent.

"That obvious?" I asked her.

"I don't think that you would be here if he did." she softly replied.

"Dom knows but Brian doesn't."

"Why wouldn't you . . ."

"Letty, I couldn't tell, I can't, he would want me to leave and he would leave too. I can't do that to him or Dom. With Vince in the DR with Mia, they need each other to survive this and I couldn't bear the thought of letting them do this without me. It's selfish because I left Jessie with her aunt but this is my family too and I will fight for my daughter's safety. She was there when he blew up the house and by the grace of God, neither of the kids were hurt. I had to come and fight for my daughter's safety. Ramsey, you are our saving grace and for that I thank you." I told them, feeling a little emotional.

"Oh, you beautiful creature, you're going to make me cry and ruin my makeup." Ramsey said.

"No, no, can't ruin the makeup. It took me forever to perfect this damn wing." I said, looking back in the mirror to make sure I hadn't already ruined it.

"You have to tell him." Letty said.

"I will, when this is all over. I made him a promise, he doesn't quite know why I did but he's aware that I will leave if things get too dangerous. We talked about it day before yesterday on the plane. If we feel that it's really not safe for me to be here then I'll leave and I'll tell him when this is all over. He can't be distracted, it's not safe." I told her.

"Okay, how are you feeling?" she asked.

"I'm good, a little on the sleepy side but that's because I got no sleep last night." I replied, winking at her.

"Naughty little devil." Ramsey said, laughing at me.

"Of course, but all jokes aside, I'm good. Even with everything going on, I'm good, I know that I'm safer than I'll be anywhere else because I'm with my family and Jessalyn is safer than she'd be anywhere else because she's with Vince and Mia in a army type fortress. We'll be together soon and then we're done with this life. He promised." I told them, the smile on my face as wide as it could be without looking creepy.

"That's good, that's really good. Let's go blow their minds with our sexiness." Letty said.

"We only have one to worry about, Ramsey has two naughty devils to impress." I told her, laughing at the look on her face.

"Don't remind me." she huffed when we walked out of the room.

We had planned to meet up in the lobby area and then walk over to the building next to us where the party was being held. Brian's eyes almost popped out of his head when he saw me, so mission accomplished!

"Yeah, you're definitely keeping this." he said, taking my hand and twirling me around.

"So I take it that you like it?" I asked, giggling when he pulled me into his arms again.

"I absolutely love it."

"You and that bad habit."

"You love it." he said, nuzzling my neck.

"Sometimes I do." I replied as his perfume permeated the air around us.

"You clean up nice, Charlie." Dom told me.

"Let go of the girl, O'Conner. You look smokin' hot, baby girl." Roman shouted.

"You look good Charlie." Tej added.

"Thank you to all of you. You all look very dashing." I replied.

"You know, I can't wait to see you O'Conner, when Jessalyn reaches her teenage years. I mean, look at what she's gonna grow up into." Tej said and we all laughed when Brian went pale.
