Melinoë's POV.
Sick. I felt beyond sick as the plane came to a halt and I got off of it. Smii7y sat by me as he spoke of irrelevant things. He had done a good job of distracting me as we had flown but the sick feeling kept rising. Not too long ago it was all fine. The hot air of Canada hit me and the thirty-degree heat hit us both. Smii7y had grown accustomed to the English heat and not the Canadian one.
"Smii7y. How are we getting to your place?" I asked but it was stupid as we had just turned to the car park. There was a large and comfortable car that honked at us and Smii7y waved for me to follow.
My hands had the bags pulled from them by a man Smii7y seemed to be acquainted with and I just thanked him. Smii7y told me that he wanted to sit in the back with his dog Octavia so I climbed into the front. A large and friendly dog crept behind me and rested her snout on my shoulder.
The second the car door was opened behind me the nose left and she began to bark and rush about in the back. Smii7y talked to her and stroked her and she laid down on the chair.
"Mark," he greeted as Smii7y spoke to his dog, "lovely to meet you." I smiled at him and gave him a lost look. Clearly, I had not been told everything about what was going to happen.
"Jaren. Didn't you..? Oh, I am his brother. The little fucknugget." I gave an 'oh' sound and smiled quickly. Greeting him in a super late return.
"Melinoë." I shook his outstretched hand and the car began. Music was playing and the AC was on as high as possible but it had barely enough of an effect.
"Is this your first time in Canada?" At first, I couldn't understand what he was asking me but after a second I could and my honest reply was made.
"Yeah. The closest physically is the states for me and even then it wasn't all that close to Canada. It was further south. Actually, I lied. Last year I came here for a family funeral. That was why my visa was so quick to come through." He could just about hear me and very little was said and for that I was grateful. The timezone with jet lag was real and I wanted to curl up and sleep for the rest of my life.
I was shaken awake when a house was met and my body shot into action. I smiled and wiped the sleep from my eyes. Hoping that I could get over the jet lag as quickly as was humanly possible. I grabbed my bags from the boot and watched as Mark drove off into the sunset.
"Come on then." I followed him up to the steps and then I also climbed them. I had no clue how long I would be in Canada but my visa only had me covered for a month and so no longer than that.
"We can sleep and then catch the others at the airport. Actually, I'll go get them and you can stay at my place. You look exhausted and I will bring them back here." I nodded and got to the sofa. As soon as I sat on it Smii7y joined me and we cuddled.
"Smii7y. Who is coming?" There was a little bit of me that thought he was asleep but his voice came through and the vibrations from his chest made sure I knew it was real.
"Mini. John. Vanoss. Scotty. Jiggly. Tyler. Me. Marcel. Fitz. Nogla. Brian and Jay." He had almost fallen asleep by the time the list was given and I had too. The flight had caught me out and I held on close to Smii7y.
I only woke up when the front door slammed and my mind was fully awake. I got up and grabbed my bags. Putting them into the room he had described to me and I threw his bags into his room. It was more of a soft placement than a throw and then I set about yanking my shoes on.
White ankle socks were worn, a white and black striped top was also worn. It started on the edge of my shoulder and ended near the middle of my upper arm. The red skirt was short and had many folds in it. The thin material made my life so much better. A thin coat of sun protection was put on and I went for a walk. The day was bright but the distance I was planning on going was not as far as I could have in cooler temperatures. It could have been considered a stupid thing to do, walk in such heat but that was me in a nutshell. Not very smart.
My converses were still as white as they had been when I bought them and that made me proud of myself. The thin material did a lot in the heat and even when I passed through the front door I felt myself melt and die a little. Gingers and heat were a stupid mix.
I had wandered through fields but mostly the roads as he wasn't in a very rural area at all. The houses were beautiful and his was no exception as the two stories were well decorated and planned. He lived in one of the detached houses and they all had large spaces between. That must have been why he could be so loud and not scared of what others may think.
My walk was cut short when my phone had an epileptic fit and buzzed from my hand into the road. My heart stopped for a small second but when I picked it up nothing was seen of such a drop and I answered as soon as I remembered why I had dropped it in the first place.
"Hey, Ginger. The boys and I are here if you fancy coming out of the dark corner you have found. We cannot find where you have hidden yourself." I laughed and turned back around. Walking the way I had come and falling into step with the sound of the wind.
"I will be like 30 minutes. I promise, bye." It was then that I hung up and strolled at an even pace back to Smii7y's house. Nothing particular on my mind but the view and my internal heater as the sun was getting to me.
My hair felt a little jiggle as a tree branch had snuck into my hair but as usual, my hair was in the two messy buns and so they had no real change. That was when I saw the road that lead to Smii7y's house and far off in the distance, I could see the edge of his house. People seemed to be keeping guard of it.
