Nightfall usually brought comfort to the raven-haired faunus, but sitting on the roof of the home she shared with her lover...comfort was but a distant memory. She didn't know why she felt like this - empty, lost...and alone - but she did. She couldn't deny that fact. She could lie to everyone else and tell them she was fine, that she was okay...but she wasn't. And she didn't know why. Her grip on Gambol Shroud loosened as she hugged her knees, staring off at nothing in particular. She brought the weapon with her just in case a wild grim decided to make an appearance, but even if one did she had a scary suspicion that she'd do nothing to stop it. She thoughts ran away without her, thinking of what had become of her life. She had everything she could ever possibly want. A beautiful caring girlfriend, true friends that would move mountains for her, a steady life. But...she didn't want that. The repetition of each day gnaws away at the girl; a leech on her subconscious.
"Blake?"
Her shining amber orbs instantly met the source of the sound, before widening. Yang, half hanging out of the attic's dormer, looked at her girlfriend with mild concern. She'd taken her arm off to go to sleep, and hadn't re-attached it before going to hunt the faunus, so she leaned the stub against the window ledge awkwardly in an attempt to steady herself.
"What are you doing out here?" They both asked in unison. Blake blushed, looking down at her knees as Yang just chuckled slightly.
"Great minds think alike, huh?" She smiled, the glow of the moon giving her an almost angelic glow.
"Yeah," came Blake's reply; hardly audible. A few brief moments of silence passed, until Yang made a move to join her lover.
"Yang-" Blake started in protest, but the blonde was already up out of the window by the time she'd finished. Yang crawled across the dirty roof tiles, plopping down beside Blake with a grin of achievement.
"You worry too much Kitten," Yang spoke, shifting on the spot in an attempt to get comfortable, "I'm not completely useless, y'know."
"I never said you were," Blake defended, "I know you're not. You're more capable than me at most things, even without your..." She trailed off at the end.
"My arm?" She finished softly, "It's not a dirty word Blakey, you can say it."
Blake just stayed quiet and looked away. With a sigh, Yang looked up at the moon, smiling at how beautiful it was. It didn't quite compare to the gorgeous kitty beside her, but it was pretty.
"What's on your mind?" Yang asked quietly, "And don't say nothing. We both know better than that."
Blake's grip on her knees tightened; the ebony-haired girl opting to just bury her head into them. Yang rolled her eyes, putting her arm around the faunus in a side hug of sorts.
"I don't know what's wrong," Blake whispered, "I don't know."
Yang remained silent for a few minutes. She slowly moved to take Gambol Shroud from her hands, placing it beside her on the roof. She then pulled Blake into her lap, gently cradling the girl. She ran her hand through the girl's dark locks, attempting to soothe her in any way possible.
"That's the worst kind of problem," Yang commented, "because it's one you can't find the answer to. At least, not on your own. You know I'm always gonna be here for you, right? You don't have to sneak away to tear yourself apart for feeling something you can't justify. Just because you don't have a reason, doesn't make it irrelevant. I can't help you find an answer to a question you don't know, but I'll try. I'll always try for you. You know that, don't you?"
Blake closed her eyes as she snuggled her head into the crook of Yang's neck, breathing in the sweet scents that always made her feel safe. In Yang's arm and a bit, she felt at home. She never felt like that anywhere else before. Tears brimmed in the faunus' eyes, and before she could stop it, the first one fell. It didn't even have a chance to reach halfway down her cheek before Yang swiftly wiped it away.
"You're not alone anymore, Blake. I know it's hard to adapt to that, but I'm here. And I'm not going anywhere. I'm not changing, and I'm certainly never going to stop loving you. So...trust me...don't keep pushing me away," Yang whispered as she slowly rocked her girlfriend back and forth. A small sob escaped the faunus, and another, then another, until she was in floods of tears. She gripped onto Yang's shirt as all the bottled up emotions of however long suddenly reached their breaking point. Yang just sat quietly, hugging her girlfriend tightly as she cried her heart out. Her sobs faded after a while, and Blake just went limp in her girlfriend's embrace.
"I'm a mess," Blake muttered.
"Correction: You're a beautiful mess," Yang replied, kissing the girl on her forehead. Blake blushed, hiding her smile under her hair.
"What did I do to deserve you," She mumbled, playing with a strand of Yang's golden hair. The blonde snorted, resting her head on Blake's.
"You breathed, that's good enough," The blonde answered with a wink. Blake looked up at her girlfriend in awe, her heart melting at the pure love displayed in her lavender irises. She leaned up, placing a chaste kiss on Yang's lips. She blushed and cupped Blake's cheek, kissing her back sweetly.
"It's late," She spoke as she pulled back, "How about we head back inside and snuggle with some tea?"
Blake nodded slowly, pushing herself off her girlfriend and taking her trusted weapon from its discarded position on the roof. She held her hand out to Yang, pulling her up. Yang climbed in first, thankful for the help from her girlfriend. Blake jumped down next, gazing up at the moon as she did so. It smiled back at her, waving goodbye.▪*:・°✧°・: *▪
