I wrote this at the beginning of the summer holidays but it got deleted and I lost motivation and cried for days so that's why this chapter's so half-assed
Also there are a bunch of timeskips, apologies.
Song: Newton Faulkner - Orange Skies
-
The last morning before I had to return to school was uneventful, I did another supply run for Jenny and texted Kyle some more. Mitch came to check up on me and I opened the door to show my face and shut it straight away, not wanting to talk to him after he saw me in my underwear. It was a boring day. That night I had one cigarette, brushed my teeth, and went to bed, setting my alarm and dreading the morning.
-
I woke up that morning to my obnoxious alarm, I rolled over and groaned loudly into my pillow out of frustration, and got dressed into my usual attire of black skinny jeans and, since it looked like it was going to be a warm day, a white cropped vest. I did my makeup sparingly, brushed my teeth and ran a brush through my messy bed head. Then after mental preparation I grabbed my bag and headed out the door, locking it behind me and slipping the key into my pocket.

"Piper, is it? How about you give me the answer?"
I raised my head from my desk and regarded the new teacher, Miss Tucker, and the work sheet before me with a lazy stare before answering.
"Evidently not."
"Why?"
"I think you know why." I snapped, quickly growing tired of her nasally voice.
"Are you asking for a punishment?!" She exclaimed, raising from her seat and glaring at me. I rolled my eyes, she must be new here.
"Going to this class is fucking punishment enough." I muttered lowly, making the people around snicker and laugh, though it gave me no pleasure in hearing so.
"Excuse me?!" She barked angrily.
"I said going to this class is fucking punishment enough!" I growled louder, resting my head back on the desk as the rest of the class joined in the laughter.
"PIPER MATTHEWS YOU WILL NOT CURSE IN MY CLASSROOM!" She roared and stormed over, slamming her hand onto my desk next to my face.
I wordlessly and in one fluid movement got up and shoved my desk of the way, it skidded a short distance before toppling over slowly and hitting the floor with a loud bang while I reached the door.
"Piper if you leave this room I'll be forced to involve your parents." She warned, the tone of her shaking voice told me it was a serious threat. I just didn't care.
"You obviously haven't been here long." I spat coldly before leaving the classroom and slamming the door so hard it rattled within it's frame. I was so done with everyone's shit and it was only second period. At least I only had one more lesson until lunch.
I was about to ditch class and try and find a way to get into the forest alone when a single thought stopped me.
What would Mitch think?
...Why would I care?!
Probably because he would somehow find out and get on my case about it for a week after.
Yeah, that's it.
I smirked at the thought, he was like a persistent conscience I actually thought about listening too.
