Song: Hozier - Take me to Church

--
The month crawled by at snails pace, said months were less than uneventful, I spent the majority of them wondering about what the hell came over me on the roof. I'd come up with nothing.

Therapy continued to be a flop too, Mitch would sometimes sit in on the sessions and stifle laughter while I dodged the shrink's questions with insults, usually I don't like people laughing at me in any way but it didn't bother me as much anymore when it was him.

There was a lot to look forward to this month though, with summer break fast approaching the students, along with me surprisingly, have actually getting along better. There's a harmony in the air at the thought of a month and a half of no school.

It didn't mean I was happy all the time, obviously, I was still a moody shit most of the time.

"So Piper, why don't you tell me why you think you're so angry?" I rolled my eyes at the suggestion. Just another way to make me talk by getting me to think I'm in control.

"Isn't that your job?" I replied with a lazy tone to my voice. My eyes darted to Mitch who's eyes were glued to his little notepad he was scribbling on.

"Is it because of your family?" He pressed on, leaning forward slightly and watching me intently through his glasses.

"Fuck you." I spat, sitting up straighter as my mood flipped and anger spread through me like poison. That asshole knew talking about family was off-limits in these sessions.

"Who makes you angry? Your sibling?"

I didn't reply, setting my jaw and glaring at him dead in the eye. The scratching of Mitch's pen stopped and silence settled.

"Your father?" His eyes darted to my clenched fists as they started to tremble.

"Shut the fuck up right now." I spoke, my voice barely above a whisper.

"Maybe your mother?"

Do you ever get so angry you can't see properly?

Your sight kind of blurs? You don't hear very well, everything slows down?

That happens to me.

I come back to my senses and see the chair I was sitting on at the other side of the room, next to a cracked window, another hole in the plaster wall and the therapist stood up next to the panic button behind his desk. Mitch was stood next to his seat.

I left the room quickly without another word.

I ran down the hall with my shoes hitting against the laminate flooring with a slap. Soon though I heard other shoes and I stopped abruptly and turned around, and for some reason surprised when I see Mitch standing there out of breath.

"Are you okay?" Is the first thing he asked. Not 'What was that?!' or 'That was terrifying', he asked about me. I didn't know how to respond, a lot of anger was still burning inside me so I turned around and walked a few steps forward and then back, taking massive gulps of air in an effort to calm down.

When I couldn't I turned back to Mitch and tried to think of something to say, but I just couldn't y'know? Not only was I too fired up to say any coherent words, but I was also strangely embarrassed at the thought of him seeing me like that. In the haze of my loud thoughts one suggestion was louder than the rest so I complied, and still breathing heavily I stepped forward quickly and wrapped my arms around Mitch's torso, hiding my face in his chest. I have no idea why I did but it seemed to work in calming me down, I vaguely felt him step back in surprise before slowly resting his arms carefully around my shaking shoulders, testing the water before hugging me tighter and drawing my body closer to his.

And weirdly? I was okay with it.

I kinda liked it.
