"Those candle flames were like the lives of men. So fragile. So deadly. Left alone, they lit and warmed. Let run rampant, they would destroy the very things they were meant to illuminate. Embryonic bonfires, each bearing a seed of destruction so potent it could tumble cities and dash kings to their knees."
― Brandon Sanderson,  The Way of Kings

Jason: I remembered da- Jonathan drawing blood from me. He always said he was using me for the greater good. I didn't believe it, but it was better than hanging on a wall for hours, waiting for him to take me back to my room where I would be alone. Though alone was always worse.

Right now, I was not alone for once. I could feel Lydia behind the monster, by Jades side.

I could also smell... fire? I checked me hands for any flames, but found nothing.

I gazed up into the shadow that no longer held the form of a man. It was like the clouds were hanging inside, preparing for something worse than rain to fall.

"You... you are my master.... The one I came here... to killllll.... Aaarh!"

The demon calls out, a small orange light glowing from inside it.

"You fool!" the shadow starts to shake the word, causing me to fall over chairs, and slide across the piano. Luckily, no injury. I stay on hands and knees, tranced at the transformed creature in front of me- it was a large wolf, its eyes a dark red, full of hate. It gave a low growl, glaring at me for only a second. Then turns around facing the boy. The boy named Derek.

"Shit... well... uh... that did nothing..."

Derek held a dying flame in his hand. It was odd looking, as though some sort of chucky object was inside.

Its wood Jason.

Jade.

Oh.... well, he's going to die.

Lydia comes in, Jade and Salina at her side.

He had to do something.... He had his power, but he wasn't sure how to release it.

The wolf shadow moved gracefully side to side, watching the small group before him.

He had to try....

"you .... Are all going to die.... For your stupid attempt at killing me you mortal, I will destroy you all."

Come on.... Just do it. I tell myself

The flame inside the demon started to grow, reaching to his lungs, smoke falling through his bared teeth. The flames found his eyes, glowing underneath his dark snout with red.

He gives a low laugh. "In the name of Jonathan Morgenstern... your institute shall burn..."

                                                                                ****

And so it does.... The demon unleashes the fire inside, the fire rises from his open jaws, taking everything in its wake.

"Jason!" Jade calls to her brother running towards him.  Derek running after her.

Salina and Jade were in danger to the falling wood above, trying to save one another from the open flames. The wolf gave another laugh, before disappearing completely.

Even with the demon gone, the flames were eating ground, punching through the walls, and silencing the music from every instrument . if they didn't leave now, they would burn with it.
