Olivia's POV: My mom and a very large portal stand behind magnus, the wind blowing my hair in my face and biting my skin.

My heart racing, Magnus moves forward, a small figure in his arms.

"Sorry we took so long. We had some minor difficulties with a few very annoying demons. Turns out they have a very unique fighting style."

"Its ok." I say, and run to him, giving him a quick hug, then go to mom giving her a long one.

" At least you guys are okay.... Is dad ok?"

Mom laughs.

" of course he is. It's your dad your talking about." She pulls me away, her warm, long hands still holding my burning ones. I wanting to wince, but didn't want mom to let go either. So I squeezed my hands tight at my side.

Her smile is small, but her eyes seem to shine. To glow, along with something else I couldn't put into words. Some would say it was fear. I knew she wasn't afraid. She was feeling something I assume, was closer to loss. Just as I was; this was our home, and has been for a long time. The idea of it fading into ashes felt unreal. Like the long drowsy dreams I have where I lose someone I care about. If only it was a dream instead.

"He's downstairs healing Alec's wounds... one of the Sketri demons attacked him from the ground. The ugly creature had held a poisonous weapon and stabbed him from behind. It was... it was really bad. But I know he'll be okay. "

I nod, doing my best to appear as hopeful as she was. If not for my sake, at least hers. I haven't seen him in person so I wouldn't know how he looked. But I believe her. No way Alec could leave us to a demon.

"So you came from the library or at least past it.... Did you not see Jake?" Her change in subject catches me off guard for a sec, but I answer truthfully.

"No. I had to leave him there so i could go back and help Salina. We found simon and izzy. I really didn't want to leave Jake but there was no one else with me and- "

"Slow down Lydia, its ok. " mom says, at the same time magnus calls out,

" I'll get them."

I turn to Magnus, letting go of mom.

"Ok. Simon and izzy are in their room. While you get them, make sure to check the hallway for Salina. I need to find my sister. And Jason." I say, surprising even myself when my brother's name slipped from my lips.

It has only been a couple weeks of getting to know him. A lifetime i've grown up here without knowing he even existed. And yet. Somehow it felt as though he was always there somewhere waiting for us to let him in. And maybe it's the fact that I worry no one else will let him step all the way inside our home, just because of where he lived most of his life. Maybe I feel I have to do it myself. No... . It's the former, and something else. Maybe repayment for him saving my sister. Yeah... that sounds right-

" livy. You ok?" Mom says, laying her hand lightly on my shoulder.

"Yeah. I'm ready- i mean i'm fine. Let's go."

We walk through the portal.

Before my left foot could pass the silver swirl of wind, a far away male voice calls to me.
