Hope as a lullaby; Goodnight Moon.

Maybe we need hope

Hope that-

When we have no one,

We can trust the moon,

Rising from the gloom,

And it will loom, hanging,

A prelude, telling what will come

But during the day it will fade and we will wonder if it was just a dream that our minds made.

And we try to be strong

But oh, how we long

For the moon that shines through the gloom

Because the sun causes pain, pain for the eye

As it moves through the sky

All too bright, all too much light

Up and down, everyday the same

Maybe we need hope that life isn't just a game

That when the sun sets

The moon will rise

And if it is covered with clouds, dark

The stars will twinkle and we might see the arch of the Milky Way

We can hope that the moon will rise

Until then

We can sit

Whisper quiet things to each other

And hope
