"What we got?"
"Twenty year old female with a concussion and scalp wound to the back of the head."
"What's her BP ?"
"150/90."
"Did you check her throat for smoke inhalation?"
"Her throat's normal but she's been coughing the whole way here. We got her on oxygen in the truck.
"Get her an IV and run 2 cc's of Calcium. Get her up to CT for this head wound. Are there signs of internal bleeding?"
"She complained of abdominal pain."
"Sweetheart, can you tell me your name?"
"Alex."
"Okay Alex, can you tell me if you feel your stomach bloating ?"
"No. I feel something stabbing me in my side."
"Which side?"
"The right."
"She may have possible bleeding in her kidney. We gotta run X-rays as soon as possible. You're going to be fine Alex."
I can barely hear her. My ears are popped and can only make out simple words. They put a mask over me and I look up seeing them move me somewhere. The last thing I see is bright hospital lights. This is it. This is how it'll end after everything. I'll never get to see him again. He'll never know the truth.

"Miss, I need a ticket on your last flight out to New York."
""Sir, I'm sorry but the gates are closed and the plane is already in taxi. I can get you on the first flight in the morning."
"Derek." He turns around and sees Simone behind him.
"Simone. Do you know if Alex got on her plane?"
"Her plane left a hour ago."
"Then why are you crying?"
"There was a crash outside the city by Athens. It was going to New York."
"No, no it can't be. Have you tried calling her?"
"They're still looking for bodies but they taking them to Saint Mary's. I need to find a cab to get out there."
"No, I'll drive."
"Are you sure-"
"That's the love of my life and if she's alive, I need to be there."
"Okay, let's go."

I wake up and there's light glaring in my face. I hear beeping and see the IV hooked to my arm. There's a mask over my mouth and my whole stomach hurts so much. I open my eyes completely and see Ms. Carlotta dozing off and all i wanted to do is hug her.
"Ms. Carlotta."
"Hey baby girl. Don't try to speak, they got you heavy on the pain killers." I move the mask off my face so I can talk.
"My plane it-"
"It crashed. It got caught in the storm. It's a miracle you made it out of there."
"You think it's God telling me something?"
"I think you still got more to do on this earth."
"How long have I been out?"
"Two days. You had to have surgery on your kidney and you lost some blood from hitting your head."
"My mom didn't show up."
"She's on her way. She's on a triple connecting flight to get to you."
"She is?"
"Yeah. She's even flying coach."
"What about my dad?"
"He's taking a train to get here. He didn't trust the plane and it took them a while to ID you and contact nixt of kin."
"How did you get here?"
"I'm still your emergency contact."
"Is anyone else here?"
"The whole herd is here. We all drove out as soon as they found you. Are you up for seeing people?"
"Yeah."
"Alright. They'll only one at a time since you just got consciousness back so I'll send em in."
"Okay." She kisses my forehead and walks out the room, closing the door behind her. I look around the room and see balloons, teddy bears, and flowers on a desk. I look up at the TV and see that I'm on there.
Alex Crane is still recovering from the horrific plane crash inside this hospital. We're told that she is currently stable and has been moved out of ICU. She's currently surrounded by loved ones but no word if Star Davis or Noah Brooks have come to visit her.
God, I wish I can turn it off. I turn my head when I hear the door open and I was expecting to see Simone or Cotton to come through but it wasn't. It was the tall, light-skin, skinny guy I love. I can't believe he's standing in the middle of the door right now.
"Derek?"
"Hi."
