It's been eight days since I came to the hospital and Derek hasn't left my side since. He's been here holding my hand and keeping me sane through this recovery. It's been painful and draining but having him here has been a relief. We haven't taken time to talk about everything that's happened just cause I'm still healing. Everyone has been checking on me 24/7. Carlotta, Simone, my parents, Ms. Bruce. I'm not surprised that Star hasn't shown up but that's the least of my concern. All I care about is going back to New York tomorrow.

I'm walking out o the bathroom with my IV bag stand when Derek walks into my room. He's back from dropping my mom off at the airport.

"Hey, you're up moving."

"Yeah. They finally took the bag out. Did my mom get to the airport okay?"

"Yeah. You sure you want her to go?"

"I'm okay now. I'm mobile and cleared to go back home to rest. I want her to go back to work."

"She did ask me to do something for her."

"What?"

"To go with you."

"No Derek, you've already done enough and it would be weird making you be my nurse."

"Alex, did you forget you were my nurse for eight whole months? I want to be there for you."

"Are you sure you don't mind staying with me until I'm fully better?"

"No worries." He walks over and hugs me, feeling his lips kiss on the top of my head.

Thank god there's a train to New York in Atlanta. There's an Amtrack that leaves every two days and w were lucky to get tickets as short notice as we did. I'm not ready to be back in the air again so a train was the next safest thing.

We left the hospital and went straight to the train station this morning. I only had the stuff I left at Carlotta's since my carry on was damaged from the crash. This train is new and was state of the art. We get there and as soon as we check in, they upgraded our tickets to first class. We got to get on the train early and the attendant escorted us to out booth. It's pretty spacious and it had a double bunk beds, bathroom and walking room. I was fine as long as it was safe.

"This is real nice." He says.

"As long as the bed is comfortable, I'm good." I say setting my bag down.

"I just want you to know that if you're not comfortable with sharing a room, I can talk to them about getting place somewhere."

"It's fine, really. I know you aren't that kind of guy."

"Would it be okay if I asked you to dinner in the cabin tonight?"

"I think I'll be up for it." I say smiling. We're starting to take baby steps to work on us before we talk about getting back together. "So how long is this train gonna go for?"

"Seventeen hours. There's a stop in DC so we should be there tomorrow afternoon."

"I guess we got a long ride." I say sitting on the bed.

"I guess we do."
