Edmund's POV
I pushed against the crowd, trying to reach Peter, who was struggling to keep the enemies at bay. He turned to see me.
"Ed! There's too many of them! Go! Get the girls and get them home!" He ordered. I stood my ground for a moment before Beaver tugged at my pant leg.
"Come on! You heard him!" I turned and followed Beaver back up the hill. I looked back for a moment to see the witch had abandoned her chariot and was making her way towards Peter. who remained oblivious to her.
"Peter said get out of here!" Beaver shouted.
"Peter's not king yet." I muttered, running back down the hill. Jumping in the way of the witch and Peter, I swung my sword towards her. She dodged expertly, thrusting her wand towards me. I jumped to one side and hit the wand with my sword. The wand shattered into pieces.
Jadis sent me an icy glare and swung the broken wand up, knocking my sword from my hands and drove her sword into my stomach. My breath caught in my throat and I fell backwards.
"Edmund!" I heard Peter shout, the sounds of the battle around me fading away.
Peter's POV
I watched in horror as Edmund fell to the ground, clutching his side. Thrusting my sword into my current opponent, I ran for the witch, who had picked up Edmund's sword and stood waiting for me.
She stood her ground as I fought with all I had, just trying to get to Edmund. The battle around me seemed to cease. All of Aslan's army had either fallen or fled.
There was no hope for us now. Tears streamed down my face as I realized I had failed them. They trusted me to lead them. Aslan trusted me, and I couldn't do it. I just wanted to give up and let Jadis kill me. I deserved it.
Aslan, Annabelle, Oreius, and Edmund were gone because of me.
Jadis swung her swords up over her head, ready to take my life and win Narnia for herself, when a roar echoed through the battlefield. She froze and we both turned to see Aslan standing over the hill, letting out another earthshaking roar. Behind him, an army rose up. Susan and Lucy stood to his right and on his left was Annabelle, alive and well, a look of determination on her face.
"Impossible." Jadis breathed. Aslan led the charge down the rocks to join the battle. A new fire lit up inside of me and I attacked the witch. She was caught off guard for a moment, but quickly recovered, parrying to the right. She tripped up my footing and I fell to the ground.
I cried out at she pierced my arm with one sword, effectively pinning me to the ground. She raised her second sword over her head, seconds away from killing me when something behind me caused her to look up. Aslan jumped over me and tackled her to the ground.
Freeing myself from the sword, I stood up, watching Aslan put an end to the white witch. He turned around, staring at me with gentle eyes.
"It is finished." He said solemnly. Susan and Lucy appeared, tackling me into a group hug. I laughed with joy, looking over both of them to find that they were uninjured. Looking passed my sister's, I spotted Annabelle walking up, sheathing her short swords. I met her halfway, hugging her tightly.
"You're alive!" I exclaimed.
"Only by Aslan's grace." She murmured into my shoulder. As we parted Susan looked around.
"Where's Edmund?" She asked. My face fell and I looked over to where Edmund had fallen. Susan took off running, Lucy close behind. Annabelle and I followed. A dwarf stood over Edmund, bringing his axe up.
"Edmund!" Susan shouted, shooting an arrow into the dwarfs chest. He collapsed, dead and we surrounded Edmund, who gasped desperately for breath. Susan pulled off his helmet as Lucy brought out her cordial. She poured a single drop into his mouth. We all waited anxiously as Edmund swallowed. His body stilled and his breathing stopped. Susan and I looked up at each other in horror.
Edmund suddenly coughed and gasped, his eyes flying open. Susan helped him sit up and I pulled him into a tight hug, tears of joy welling up in my eyes. I pulled away.
"When are you ever going to do as you're told?" I scolded, a smile on my face. Edmund laughed as Lucy and Susan hugged him tightly. He then spotted Annabelle next to me.
"You're okay!" He said. Annabelle smiled and hugged him.
"I would never go down so easily." She laughed. Aslan walked by, smiling kindly at us as he came to a stop in front of a stone statue of a satyr. I watched, amazed, as he breathed on it and it slowly came back to life. A smile crept onto Lucy's face and she jumped up. Running around, cordial in hand, she began tending to the wounded on the battlefield.
Annabelle's POV
I stood up with Peter and Susan, who helped Edmund to his feet. The sun shined down on the battlefield, casting everything in a warm glow as everyone gathered around, smiling and hugging one another.
Lucy came running back to us, a wide smile on her face as she placed her cordial back on her hip. Peter bent down and picked her up. I felt my body stiffen and my smile left my face.
"Are you okay?" I heard Peter ask, but his face was blurred and his voice was muffled. My lips parted and words that were not my own flower freely from my mouth.
"Upon the day that is the longest,
there comes a moment where myth becomes truth. The four rulers shall be crowned
And usher forth an age of gold and an era of peace. When the moment comes the great lion shall leave, with promise to return."
My knees gave out and I collapsed to to the ground, life coming back to my body. Peter and Susan were there in an instant, helping me sit up. Aslan stepped forward, a smile on his face.
"What was that?" I asked, catching my breath.
"You've spoken your first prophecy." He said, bowing his head slightly, before looking to Peter, Susan, Edmund, and finally Lucy. "You will all be crowned in four days time, when the sun hangs in the sky the longest, at the Seer has foretold."
