16. The star of the party

Kihyun walked to the door and knocked a certain amount and the door opened, revealing Minhyuk.

"Hyung, did you find a good cake?" Minhyuk asked, trying to peek at the package in Kihyun's grip.

Kihyun walked into the apartment, which happened to be Hyungwon's. Hyungwon was at work today, so it was a perfect moment to prepare for the party. Kihyun put the package on the table and looked around.

"Where's Changkyun? And Wonho?" He asked.

"Changkyun is getting confetti and balloons with Jooheon and Shownu and Wonho are getting some drinks." Minhyuk said.

Kihyun nodded and went to open the window. "We have to decorate soon." He stated. "Also In-Sook is going to tell me when he leaves work."

"Right... Changkyun and Jooheon should be here soon, so we can already start." Minhyuk replied.

"Let's keep it simple, Wonnie probably won't like if we mess up his apartment too much." Kihyun smiled and took his backpack.

Minhyuk frowned a little. "But that's the point... we need to mess things up."

"Hey, let's take it easy on him, okay?" Kihyun eyed him.

Minhyuk glanced at him but didn't answer anything. They put a sign hanging from the ceiling with strings, which read, Congratulations for getting back to work! Then they put artificial flowers on the walls with tape and sat down to wait.

"This is looking pretty good." Minhyuk grinned. "I bet he loves the flowers."

"Yeah, he might like them a lot." Kihyun nodded. "They should be here soon..."

Just then, someone knocked the same amount that Kihyun had earlier. Kihyun smiled and went to open the door. There was Changkyun, Jooheon, Shownu and Hoseok. They all came in and laid their groceries down.

"Wow, you already put all of these up..." Changkyun smiled and looked at the flowers and the sign.

"We did, now... let's mess things up with the balloons and confetti." Minhyuk rubbed his hands together.

Kihyun and Hoseok put the cake and drinks on the table, Shownu and Jooheon filled the balloons and Minhyuk and Changkyun spread the confetti around. They put serpentine on the ceiling, on the walls and on the furniture. Soon, the apartment looked just like there would be the party of the century.

"This looks awesome." Changkyun smiled. "We did a good job."

"Let's put these last balloons on the door." Shownu suggested.

"Good idea!" Minhyuk chirped and they taped them on the door.

"Alright, In-Sook messaged me. He's on his way." Kihyun said. "Let's switch off the lights and hide."

"Yeah, we'll go behind the armchair." Changkyun said. He and Jooheon hid there.

"I'll go behind the table." Kihyun said.

"Me too." Hoseok added and went after him.

Minhyuk and Shownu went behind the couch. They were silent and waited. It took about five minutes and they heard noise on the other side of the door. Someone put the keys on the door, turned them and opened the door slowly.

Kihyun raised his hand and gave out a sign. He mouthed the word now. and everyone jumped up and screamed. "Surprise!!!"

Hyungwon dropped his keys on the floor and looked at the apartment, mouth wide open.

"G-guys?" He finally said something.

"congratulations on getting back to work!" Minhyuk yelled and ran up to him, giving him a hug.

"Guys, what is this?" Hyungwon asked, still shocked.

"A party!" Changkyun screamed and threw his hands up. "Let's get lit tonight!!!"

"Yeah!" Jooheon added.

Hyungwon smiled. "Really? This is all for me?" He looked at the confetti and the balloons.

"Of course it's for you, we wanted to surprise you." Hoseok said.

Kihyun nodded. "This was Wonho's idea." He said.

Hyungwon looked at Hoseok, the biggest smile on his face. He walked up to him and wrapped his long arms around him. "Thank you." He grinned. "This is awesome."

"You're welcome." Hoseok smiled too.

"Shall we take some cake and drinks?" Kihyun said.

Hyungwon smiled and sat at the table. They ate cake and drank few beers. Hyungwon was happy. He hadn't felt such joy for a while. This felt great. He had good friends who made him happy.

"Well, let's go." Hoseok suddenly said, when they had eaten and were sitting in the living room.

Hyungwon raised an eyebrow. "To where?"

"To a bar, of course! Did you think we were just going to have a few drinks here? Uh, no way." Minhyuk exclaimed. "We're gonna fuck shit up tonight!"

"But I have work tomorrow..." Hyungwon said.

"No you don't." Kihyun answered. "I already told In-Sook that we're having a party, so you don't need to go to work tomorrow."

"Hyung... geez." Hyungwon sighed, but was clearly amused.

"Let's go then, Wonho and Shownu found a great bar." Changkyun smiled.

Hyungwon nodded. "Yeah, let's go! We're going to get so wasted!"
