I sit at my desk
Comfortable
Familiar
Getting ready for lunch
With my friends
Comfortable
Familiar
That I've known since high school
I've been dressed since this morning
Comfortable
Familiar
But I won't be ready to go for another 20 minutes
I stare at my desk mirror
Comfortable
Familiar
As I feel my heart pound
Is there time to cancel?
What if they don't have a good time?
What if this is the last time they invite me out?
How much do I focus on myself while they're talking?
I know I will order the chicken tacos
Comfortable
Familiar
I checked the menu last night
We are meeting in the activity center
Comfortable
Familiar
And then we're walking together
I am so excited for the memories
Comfortable
Familiar
I'll have tomorrow
But I am so afraid
Uncomfortable
Familiar
They will know I don't want to be there
But I am so afraid
Uncomfortable
Familiar
They will know how scared I am
But I am so afraid
Uncomfortable
Familiar
They will know how uncomfortable I am
But I am so afraid
They will know
How familiar I am
With being uncomfortable.
