SOMEONE I KNOW

"Why the hell are you behaving like this?!"

Sameer,my best friend,asked me irritated.But I didn't feel like responding.I just kept staring at the waves which gets destroyed on its own by splashing on the rocks.My mind thought about the emptiness in my life without her and how aching it is.

It is a clear sunny mid-day.After tolerating my insane behaviour for almost 8 months,Sameer finally decided to talk about it.

After getting no response from me,he just looked at me for a few minutes and asked the same question for the second time.

"Why are you behaving like this?Atleast say something,please.There is a limit for keeping it to yourself."He shouted at me annoyed.

I just looked at him with tired eyes.

Sameer noticed the dark circles around my eyes and just sighed.

I guess he was actually thinking how it use to be.I was totally a different person.I miss myself with each passing day.My smile,my humour,my friendly talks...am losing everything gradually.

As if suddenly he cant take it anymore,Sameer made me face him.

"Ahmed..I know you still love her.But Its over.You have to accept it and get over with.What about the whole life you have ahead of you?!Are you going to grieve forever?!Move on,man.Give it time.Everything will be alright and please...for heaven's sake...stop this sulking."

I immediately stood up from the rock on which I was sitting.I felt like Sameer touched a raw nerve.After looking at him for 2 seconds,finally I spoke.

"Sameer..I know you care for me.But only I know about my loss.Only I can feel the pain,which feels like each minute my heart is being drilled by thousand knives.The only thing which I cant even figure out till now is how am I going to live without her.And do you really think I have a life ahead?!I don't think so.But for now,I wish to atleast stop discussing about this again and again."

Sameer was startled by my reaction.Even though Sameer know how much I loved her,he cant stand seeing his friend's life turning into a tragedy and keep quiet.So again he persisted.

"Ahmed..I understand.Only you can feel the loss and pain.But also,only you can make yourself come out of it.Please..your Dad and mom are so much worried about you.They told you are not even talking to them properly.And just look at you!!You have changed drastically!!.."

I interuppted.

"Because my life has changed drastically,Sameer!!!Can you understand?!!The very best thing that have ever happened to me came to a halt all of a sudden and I don't even know how to explain why...Please will you do me a favour??"

Sameer gave me a questioning look and I continued.

"Please leave me alone to deal with this.I hope it will get better with time."I knew it was a lie and life is never going to be the same again,but talking about it just made the pain worsen.

Sameer kept quiet after that and gave an understanding nod.After that we returned to the office.Sameer drove back to his after dropping me in mine.

I entered the office and the air conditioned room felt welcoming after a hot day out and a heating argument.

I sat on the black leather chair like am completely devoid of energy to even sit straight.

By looking at my sandy shoes,my mind automatically recalled the day when the Marina looked most beautiful because she was with me then.

The sun was mid-orange,ready to return home.It was a beautiful evening with lava coloured clouds decorating the sky.I was sitting on the dry sand in Marina.She was busy collecting shells.I looked at her with admiration.She was wearing a green-white salwar.Her dark green dupatta(shawl) with stone works shimmered with sun rays.The glow reflected on her and highlighted her features beautifully.After collecting a handful of shells,she came and sat next to me with a smile.I put an arm around her and drew her close.

"you look gorgeous."I said.

She giggled.

"Oh,really?!It suddenly dawned on you?!"She asked still playing with the shells she collected.

I didn't answer but kept looking at her lips and the cute pout which became even more cuter when she smiles mischievously.

"Nope.Actually was just analysing it for a few months and now came to a conclusion."I said.

She playfully punched my arm and rested her head on my shoulders.I wished time would stand still in this moment.

"whatever happens..you will be there with me right?!"She asked innocently.

I lifted her face holding her chin but she continued looking at the ground with moist eyes.She looked even more gorgeous.

I wiped her tears first and said,"Until any irreversible damage happens to me I'll be there for you.Even after that I'll be there with you,but you wont be able to see me."

She placed her index finger on my lips making me stop.Then with a shaking voice she spoke.

"That wont be happening.If I cant see you,then I don't want to see anybody.I will just keep my eyes shut,forever."

Two pear shaped tear drops fell on her dupatta and turned into small circles.I felt like marrying her then and there.

The evening glow...her wavy hair let loose beautifully framing her face...her dark blue eyes looking deeply into mine...everything all together made our first kiss happen.

I cupped her face and softly touched her cheeks.With one finger I traced her eyebrows and she closed her eyes.Gently I leaned into her and fused my hard lips with her soft,luscious lips.She ran her fingers through my hair and pulled me closer.She was too shy to open her eyes and tugged on to my shirt.I held her by her waist and drew her even more closer and she closed her eyes even more tighter.After about two minutes which seemed to be an eternity we relieved ourselves.

She struggled to meet my eyes,so she kept looking at the shells which she collected earlier.

I slowly lifted her face which was a shade of pink by now.

"Look what you have done to a really decent guy?!You made him kiss you in the public!!!" I said with a half smile and with the tone of fake anger.

"Ah...Its only now you remember that beach is a public place?!How cool!!"she said with a sarcastic laugh.I laughed and after a moment of precious silence,

"Did you like it?"I asked.

She blushed and her face turned a red shade.I looked her in her eyes and asked,"Yes or no?".

"yes."she smiled and lowered her gaze.

"whoooohoooo!!!" I shouted punching my fist in the air.

It was already getting dark so we decided to leave.We walked hand in hand towards the car.

On reaching her house,I gently placed another kiss on her lips.She ruffled my hair,turned and walked away.But I can still see that smile on her face.

I wanted to hold her,kiss her and love her forever.I inhaled her fragrance which still lingered inside the car.That minute I felt like am the most luckiest and happiest man in the world.

I returned home still smiling and replaying our first kiss over and over in my mind.I slept a peaceful sleep that night.
