Sana:

Present:10

When I opened my eyes the sun was already blazing and illuminating the entire room.Rizana has already left to college.

There was a sticky note stuck to my phone's display screen saying 'Suzy shortfuse' which means my mother is in a bad mood.Me and Rizana uses a lot of code words in our conversation, and this is way old invention by us to warn each other when one of us is in trouble.

I just stayed in bed for a few more minutes before getting up.After about 15 minutes,I was ready for my morning coffee.

Coming downstairs,I saw my mom busy in her garden. She was watering the 'Purple Queen'.Carefully choosing my words,I spoke.

"Good morning mom.How is my favourite Double Delight Tea doing?" I asked casually. Its a hybrid rose variety.

"Look at it for yourself.Am busy." She said bluntly.

"Hmmm..ok..Let me see her after having my coffee."I said. But there was no response from my mother.I should have got the hint by then. But I still persisted.

"Mom,Can you make me some coffee?" I asked.

"Can't you see am busy?If you are old enough to make life decisions then for sure you are old enough to make coffee for yourself." She said sharply without even looking at me.I have promised myself not to lose my temper today.

"Yeah.Ok..Fine then.I will do that."I said faking my serenity.

"Hmmm..Even now you don't want to accept your mistake and understand from our point of view." my mom said when I turned to leave the place.

"Please mom.Not now." I said and she just nodded.

"Coffee is in the thermos." She added.I smiled realising that she is not as angry as I expected her to be.I sighed with relief.

I poured a cup and sat beside the window. My mother was about to finish her gardening work and any minute she may come inside.I found myself devising a plan to escape her questions.I analysed every possible reasons I could give and it was then I remembered I thought of calling Zahra today.

I pulled my phone out of my pyjama pocket and scrolled down to her number. It kept on ringing but there was no answer.Disappointed,I threw the phone back into my pockets and started watching star movies.

Zahra is living in Seoul,South korea, with her parents. When we last spoke she told me that she is hunting for job.Her parents are also practising dentists in Seoul but as she states, she wants a difference between home and working place it seems. So she denied her dad's offer to work in their clinic. When we were in college, during weekends we use to watch Korean dramas and movies.I loved the place shown in 'Boys over flowers',a big hit among Korean dramas.Zahra told me the place shown is called Jeju island and I added it to my 'To visit before die' bucket list.

When I finished my coffee lost in thoughts, the phone rang.It was Zahra.

"Hi sweetie.Good morning." she said cheerfully.

"Hi dear..Morning!Someone is busy it seems?!" I said sarcastically.

"Ha..Nothing much da.Just the usual.I was downstairs chatting with my sister-in-law and left the phone in the other room for charging." She explained.

"Thats okay dear.soooo..how are you?" I asked peeping through the window to catch a glimpse of my mother. But she was not there.

"Am good. How is everything with you sweet?!" She asked.

"Just normal.Hey..wait.Let me go upstairs first.I need to discuss something with you in privacy." I said as I placed my coffee mug on the dining table and started climbing the stairs.
