Chapter 17: Family Portrait

*Bella's POV

I scribbled some lines and arrows along the paper that was given to me yesterday. They provided me with some blank paper, pencils, and crayons that were already used. This morning I woke up determined to make an escape plan. If I get this perfect I will take action within a week and a half. I need to make sure the schedule of the guards are written so I know what time I can move, what areas they have cameras and what route I can take. This has to work, I'm noting everything down that's why it's going to take me this long.

I looked over it making sure I had every room I knew on this. I'm on the second floor so it's not that difficult if I was on a higher floor. I had the garden here having everything on it, from the benches that were there to the gates. I leaned on my chair picking up the paper in the air examining it. My drawing wasn't so good but as long as I understood it, it was fine.

I've been working on this plan for two days, well if you count today. It's been two days since I last seen Justin. It doesn't really bother me, it's better this way. I forget about him and he does the same, like if we never met. Although that's what I wanted a little tiny part of me was upset.

Shoving my paper into my desk I got up and walked out my room. I haven't seen Sisi since yesterday. The only thing I will hate is leaving her behind. She's small and innocent, but I can't take her with me and risk her life. I'll be running for most of the part and cold, I don't think her body will be able to handle the outside and dangers we might face.

I sighed at that thought and knocked on her door waiting for her response. "Sisi, can I come in?" I spoke softly. I heard some shuffling of feet before the door opened. Looking down at her she was smiling right back at me, she had on a white dress today, well those we are given like a gown. "Bella!" She put her hands up wanting me to pick her up which I did. I never hugged a little kid nor carry so it felt weird but nice.

I walked in closing the door after me and set her down on her bed. "What you up to?" I looked at her floor which was covered with drawings. Some of butterflies, rabbits, houses, and the one that caught my attention was a drawings of Sisi holding hands with Justin and I on each side of her. I knew this because it had Justin's brown hair spiked up, and my wavy brown hair. I looked at it surprised that she would draw this.

"Drawing" she replied taking a red crayon, she looked up at me and smiled. "That's us, big family" I looked at her, does she think we are a family?

"You are my new mommy, and Justin is my new daddy." She smiled weakly, I could see her eyes turning red and tears rolling down her cheek. I didn't know what to do, why was she crying? I picked her up and set her down on my lap hugging her small body. She cried into my chest clutching onto my shirt.

"Why don't m-mommy and daddy l-love me?" She stuttered, her cry not letting her speak right. I didn't have an answer to her question because I had the same one. I felt horrible, she's always happy and smiling. Seeing her cry like this broke my heart. She only wanted her parents to love her and care for her but she doesn't have them. So now she had to come up with two fake parents who would.

"It's okay baby, don't cry. I'll be your new mommy. I'll love you and make sure no one hurts you" I spoke softly, terrified of what I just said. I can't do that, I'm escaping within a week, I can't leave her like this. She'll think I abandon her too. I hugged her closer to me, either way I would have to come up with something.

"You will?" She looked up at me rubbing her eyes with her hands. I wiped her tears and smiled at her, reassuring her. "Of course, I promise. I'll be there for you, and I never brake my promises"
