She was sitting on the bench all alone. I felt bad, but I didn't even notice her for half the year. I was gonna back off and give her some space. Yeah....space. The lobby was beginning to get full now as we prepared to go home. Teachers taking role, last minute students shuffling off the elevator. It was pure chaos. All except for Maddy. She just peacefully sat on the bench in the corner, lost in a book. I smiled slightly, then Blake came up behind me. "Hey bro wassup." He said. "Nothin much. Just waiting to go home." I replied. He began rambling on and on after that. Until finally, it was time to head home. We were escorted down to the ship. We filed on, flashing passports and going through security. It was a long boat ride home. We were all tired by the end of it. And to make it even worse, tomorrow was Monday. We had school. We got back to the school parking lot, where our parents were waiting. I hugged my mom and dad. We got in the car and we drove home. I didn't tell them every little detail about the trip, but I told them that we explored caves and stuff. Not a word said about getting lost. Not a word said about Maddy. When we got home I shuffled my feet inside, luggage in hand. I immediately ran up to my room and brushed my teeth. Then, I went to bed. I was too tired for anything else. It felt good to be home, but I wish I didn't have to go to school tomorrow.
