I woke up to an alarm on my phone. I got up and brushed my teeth. I slipped on a bra and t-shirt, then pulled on some jean shorts. I brushed my hair out and put on some chapstick. I put on my sneakers and tied up the laces. I was ready for the day. I just had to finish up a bit of packing, and then I could head down to the lobby. I pressed the elevator button. I had packed up my stuff and headed out the door two minutes earlier. The elevator arrived and I stepped on. Other students were already on the elevator. I held my head down. The elevator door opened to the lobby. Everyone filed out. I followed slowly, clinging onto my backpack. I saw a cafe in the corner of the lobby. I decided to wait in line for coffee. I looked at the menu, then decided to get a plain latte. I got up to the cashier and ordered my drink. I fumbled with getting my money out. I paid and he told me to wait for my order. I stood by waiting, trying to get my money back into my bag. I dropped everything. My face turned bright red as I struggled to pick it all up, while everyone watched me. Suddenly, another set of hands appeared, helping me gather my stuff. "Thanks." I said nervously. "No problem." They said, handing me my stuff. I looked up to see their face. It was Turner. Great, another person from school seeing me act like a complete loser, not that I wasn't one. I took my stuff from him and smiled slightly. He stood up and held out a hand for me. I took his hand and he helped me up. "Thanks." I said shyly. "Maddy!" The barista called. I grabbed my coffee and held it between my palms. It warmed me up. "So your name is Maddy." Turner said. I nodded. "And yours is Turner." I replied. He looked confused. "I sit behind you in English." I explained. His face changed to a look of slight horror. "Oh...I didn't know that." He said with a nervous laugh. "No it's fine, I'm pretty much invisible." I said, tilting my head down. He laughed and smiled awkwardly, as if he wasn't sure if I was joking or not. "Anyways," I said, "cya around I guess." I laughed nervously. I waved a slight wave and walked off. I sat on a bench and sipped on my hot coffee, nearly burning my tongue. I pulled earbuds out of my bag and popped them in. Back to the comfort of invisibility.
