Note: This is probably the oddest section yet, and undoubtedly the shortest. The time is not apparent, the place is not apparent, and yet Jacob seems to be in a dream. We've considered removing the section, but a after a long argument, decided not to. It may become relevant later. We must stick true to the story, keep everything that was entered. Let it begin.
I'm suspended in a dark place. The darkest place. In the air, but there is no air.
Black cords, strings of leeching, are embedded within me at many painful spots. I cannot open my eyes, but I already know what is there. My arms, reaching out to each side as if I was floating in water. The freezing black tentacles, devoid of kindness, holding me up, in my veins, in my everything. My head hanging down, short hair covering my eyes.
In some twisted way, it reminds me of the Bible. Jesus, pinned to the cross. But I know it's not. It can't be. I was never Christian, anyway. The black cords, tentacles of the darkest night, suspend me and occasionally move my limbs like a cruel puppet master. So cruel. So dark... So cold...
I cannot open my eyes, yet I can see. I can know.
I can see the stormy, gaping mouth, or at least sense it. I can see the ragged eyes, drooping in their pitch-black gait. I can see the woman to my left, the others to my front. And yet I can't. I can't open my eyes. I can't...!
...The tentacles are draining... faster now...
...I can't lose myself. Can't... let go...
...Must... keep... fighting.
...Must... keep... fighting...
