[Maleficent's POV]
I was awoken by Leah's soft cry. I carefully lifted her up and cradled her in my arms. I wrapped a cloth around her so she would be held up on my back. I walked outside and looked out into the Moor, glowing with life, even late at night. It was beautiful. I sat down in a rock, the same one Diaval and I sat on when he first confessed his love for me, and I him. I took Leah off my back and placed her in my arms. I kissed her forehead. "My sweet Leah. Welcome to this world. There is beauty in it but also great danger. You are a precious soul, unknowing of evil and sin, pure and innocent, having not yet seen the crushing monotony and paralyzing terror yet to come. I promise, as long as I live, I will protect you. I will never let anything happen to you, my sweet Leah." I looked down to see the babe had fallen asleep in my arms. Love overcame me once again. How amazing it felt to love someone more than yourself! I carried her back to the house and set her down in her bassinet. Happiness was a choice, and from that moment on, I decided to be happy.
