EXT. MARK'S HOME – BACK PATIO – NIGHT

:::The house is completely dark. Propane torch heaters line the perimeter of and illuminate the patio.

:::Seated at a table with a heavy glass ashtray in the center, Mark and Barry enjoy cigars.

BARRY

A body was found in the woods

behind one of the neighbors'

houses today. I will never

understand why people try to

hide bodies.

MARK

It makes sense if it was a

family member who killed the

person.

:::Mark takes a puff of his cigar.

MARK (CONT'D)

You ever think of your own

death? Ever think what if you

are murdered?

BARRY

When I decided to give up my

immunity... I thought about it all

the time. After I graduated

from medical school I just

thought about finding a cure.

That's what I focus on.

MARK

If a cure comes one hundred

years from now then so be it.

But you, you are not going to be

the one who discovers it.

BARRY

Why have you never had my back?

:::The door leading from the house to the patio opens. Calvin steps out and approaches the table. He remains standing. Barry gawks at him.

MARK

Neither of us supports the

research.

BARRY

CALVIN

welcomed me into his home.
