What happened previously:
“We heard about how you’re hiding you sexuality.” His dad looked at him disappointed and his mother just cried her heart out in Bradley’s chest. Bradley was shocked to say the least.

The Past Comes Back
“I-I can explain.” Bradley tried to assure his parents and he looked away from his father’s disappointed stare. His parents had always taught him how he shouldn’t be ashamed of himself and his choices, but they didn’t know his friends or how society worked today in high school. They had raised him to be proud of whom he is and that God had made him for a reason.
His parents were so afraid for their son; he had had a hard life. He had gone through bullying and judgmental relatives, like his Aunt Tanya. She and her family are Christians; Aunt Tanya was against Bradley’s sexuality to the point of abandoning Bradley’s family and chose to delete his mother from any kind of memory she had. It had been hard for Bradley and his mother, because as children Tanya and Bradley’s mother were really close and he felt incredibly guilty.
“Then explain why my son is pretending to be someone he’s not!” His father stood up and stared at his son who was looking down in shame.
“Darling, calm down.” His mother’s soothing voice broke through the tense atmosphere and she walked towards her husband who was watching her walk. She wrapped her arms around his neck and gave him a peck on the lips. Her husband smiled and kissed her again, and then they both sat down again.
I wonder if I’ll be with someone that’ll make me so happy, Bradley thought, maybe I’ll forever be alone, he so bitterly added.
“Explain.”
Bradley took a deep breath and started to close his eyes. He could feel the painful memories haunt the entrance to his thoughts and he finally let them pass. He thought of how much his attraction to boys haunted him, before he revealed his true self to his family. He thought of how much he loved Cole and how his arms felt around his body, of how much his heart hurt when Cole abandoned him, before he even revealed his love. Then all the teasing, bullying, beating, whispers and rumors came, he remembered he had heard Cole’s name being repeated through all that. His best friend and first love hated him and he had told the whole school about the secret Bradley Jones had been keeping to himself. An image of the day Bradley’s family moved and found a new home came to his mind, his new school, his new friends and his new identity.
“At our old school I was named one of “The Dead”, a group of outcasts, outsiders, gays, druggies and nerds. I told Cole about me in 7th grade… and he didn’t like that kind of news. He was my first clue, I was very attracted to him and that’s when I knew. I am gay and I’m gay for my best straight friend. He hated me from the moment I told him and I remember feeling my heart burst-“ Bradley was so into the story that he didn’t even care what he told his family, like they’d judge him anyway.
“He told everyone at that school, he told them of how disgusting I was, how I probably spied on them in the changing rooms when we had Gym. He told them how I was poison for someone’s reputation and they could only talk to me if they wanted to commit social suicide. I was like the pest, everyone avoided me and all my friends I had before would hit me, kick me, and tell me how I should just die. I was actually walking home one day and-“ Bradley froze and swallowed his words that he was determined not to tell.
“Bro, what is it?” Bradley looked at his older brother who sat right across from him and he gulped. Bradley was about to choke on his words, but he looked down on the ground and he saw the time on the clock that stood in the middle of the coffee table.
