Finally 8

It was exactly a year later and Ellie's eighth birthday. She couldn't have been more excited. Everyone was coming to visit her and she was especially excited to see Remus.

The Diggory's had already visited and Cedric had gotten her a drawing set and it had quickly became her most favorite thing.

Ellie was just starting to wander when they were going to get there and why they were taking so long when she heard a knock at her door. "Come in." She yelled politely as Remus and Professor Dumbledore entered the room. She immediately ran up to them and individually gave both of them a hug.

"You seem awfully happy today Miss Ellie." Professor Dumbledore stated in his airy tone. "That's because today is the greatest day ever!" she exclaimed quickly so no one could understand a thing she said.

"And why is today the greatest day ever?" Remus asked jokingly. Ellie immediately butted in yelling "Because it's my birthday." Whilst running around like she had drank 6 cups of coffee and was on a sugar high.

They all began to laugh before sitting down on Ellie's bed and giving her a present each. Albus gave her a pair new glasses after she broke her last pair and a diary to write in. After he gave her his present Professor Dumbledore got up and told the pair that he had to get back to Hogwarts but not before giving Ellie one last hug and bidding goodbye to Remus.

"Are you ready for my present?" Remus questioned with an amused look on his face as Ellie proceeded to jump up and down as an answer to his question.

Suddenly, Remus reached under the bed and grabbed out a box he had hidden when they walked into the room. "This is my first present." He explained passing her the large cardboard box that barely fit in her arms making her question how he snuck it in pass her.

She cautiously took the box mumbling a thank you under her breath as she slowly lifted the lid to take a peak before gasping. In the far right corner there was 2 tiny baby hedgehogs. "awwwww" She exclaimed before carefully lifting the closest one to her up. She looked into its tiny beady eyes before declaring"I'm going to name you Ollie."

"What about the other one?" Remus questioned with a grin spread across his face. "Piper!" she exclaimed with a burst of energy. She gently placed the adorable creatures back into the box before turning to Remus.

"Thank you so much Remmy. You're the best." She thanked him. He chuckled "That's not all. I have an even better gift." he declared.

A look of confusion crossed Ellie's face before her curiosity got to the best of her. Remus handed her a piece of paper a sneaky grin on his face. Ellie's eyes quickly skimmed the document before tears started gathering.

All of a sudden, her dams broke and the waterworks began. She immediately flung herself at Remus as she burst into tears. "You w-w-want to adopt me?" She sobbed into his chest as he looked down at her with loving eyes. "Of course I do" He declared bringing her closer to him

"I already got all the signatures, I just need yours" he explained once she had let go.

Ellie's face turned into one of determination "Get me a pen!" She exclaimed as Remus grabbed a pen from his pocket and passed it to her. She quickly used the pen to create a cute little squiggle before turning to Remus.

"So you're going to be my new dad?" she questioned with a confused look on her face. Remus chuckled softly to himself "Yeah I am."

Ellie immediately sprung up with a bright look on her face as she once again hugged  Remus.

She was finally going to be rid of this place and whilst she was scared of what was going to happen to her on her tenth birthday when her proper abilities kicked in, she was excited to finally have a family to call her own.

Little did either of them know that Dumbledore had planned this all along being the sneaky old man that he was.
