Sarah Beth~
I wiped a couple of tears off my face as Mr. Cornelius stroked my curly hair, all with his arms around me. I couldn't believe it; All my life he had been Minister of Magic, and now, all of a sudden, he wasn't. I knew why he was impeached, but it still didn't seem right to me. Not morally right, because after what he did he kind of deserved it, but some other feeling I couldn't explain. It was like my life was a jigsaw puzzle, and he was a piece. But now, someone has changed the shape of it, but it still fit, but not perfectly like before.
"It'll be okay, Sarah Beth." He assured. "I'll get a new job."
"I know... It's just weird for you not to be Minister." I buried my face into his chest. He chuckled.
"I know you don't like change and this is a big one, but everything changes. Think about trees. they bloom, then their leaves turn brown and orange, then they fall off. "
"Yeah, but then they bloom back and it starts all over. Besides, tree's are suppose to do that. It wouldn't be a change unless they did something that wasn't suppose to happen."
"Not the best metaphor, you're right. But I assure you, things will change, and it's all for a reason."
"But I don't want it to." I said. Mr. Cornelius stepped back so I wasn't against him anymore and put his hand under my chin, lifting it up to look a him.
"I know. But you have to understand, I did some things that weren't right, and now I have to pay the consequences. I brought this upon myself. Do you understand?"
"Yes, Mr. Cornelius."
"Very well." He kissed my forehead. "I guess we need to leave now." After grabbing the box he had put all the photographs that had once been on his desk in, he lead me to the door.
Together, we took one last look at the used to be his office. I grew up there, basically. Many a naps had been taken on that sofa. It 's where I learned how to write my name in cursive. Where I lost my first tooth. Where i learned what happened to my parents...It was a huge part of my life, and now it was gone.
Finally, I reached over and grabbed Mr. Cornelius's hand. He looked down at me, shaking his head. With one wave of his wand, all the candles went out, leaving the room in total darkness. Then, almost mournfully, Mr. Cornelius closed the door to the Minister of Magics office for the last time.
