Felicity woke up that Friday morning to her blaring alarm. She let it ring for a bit, her brother yelling from another room that she better turn it off. It was a daily sibling-bonding ritual.

Rolling out of bed, groaning the whole time, Felicity made her way to the bathroom. After a quick shower, deciding what to wear, and light makeup, she put her hair up in a half up half down hairstyle and headed out to the living room of the small apartment.

Her brother, Wesley, was standing at the toaster, waiting for his two slices to pop up, as per usual.

"Mornin,' City," he called.

City was Felicity's nickname, and she loved it. Everyone that knew her called her that.

"What time is it?" asked City, sitting down at the table where her brother had poured her a cup of coffee already. She sipped it tenderly, still waking up even after the shower.

"Noon-thirty," said her brother.

"Why do you say it like that?" asked City, laughing. Then her eyes got wide. "Past noon?" She gulped down her coffee. "You didn't have work today?!" She usually woke up when he left.

"Nah, they didn't need me today, they have a bunch of mechanics coming in from the local college to help out for their service hours or something. Not really sure." Wesley's toast sprang up. "I'll probably head back to the garage later today, though."

"I can't believe I'm late," cried City, rushing into her bedroom again to get her things gathered.

"Calm down, Audrey will understand," reassured Wesley, eating his toast now. "You're never late."

"Exactly!" City came back into the kitchen, purse in hand, wearing light, ripped jeans and a pink shirt under a leather jacket. "How do I look?"

"Pretty. Now go," said Wesley, barely looking up.

City groaned again and fled out the door. "I'll be back late tonight! We close at 3am on Fridays, remember!" she shouted as she left.

"Yeah, be safe!" said Wesley. He heard the door shut right when his words left his mouth. He shook his head. "Crazy."

City dashed down the stairs and out of the apartment complex. Hailing a taxi and climbing in, she sped off to a local café.

It was small, tidy, and busy inside. The warmth and friendliness of the place really brightened up City's mood the moment she stepped inside. She instantly recognized her friend's bright blue hair at a window table and went to sit.

"There you are, City! It's not like you to be late," commented Audrey lightly, a smile on her face. She was quite eccentric-looking today, with blue eyeshadow to match her hair and a hoop in her nose that sparkled under the café lighting.

"Sorry, I don't know what happened," said City. A waitress came over, and City ordered a bagel and another coffee. Then she looked intensely at Audrey. "Spill."

"Well..." Audrey proceeded to tell about her latest boy obsession. This time, it was a guy named Michael. "So then, we decided to get breakfast this morning, you know, while he drops me back off at my place," Audrey was saying. "But he was so boring! Like, girl, you don't even know. It was like talking to a wall."

City was laughing. "You really pick the best ones, huh?"

Audrey sighed dramatically. "He was good in bed last night... But in the light? Actually talking to him? Terrible. I literally already deleted his number."

"You just need someone as crazy as you, but also someone loyal and not boring," said City.

"Gee, thanks City, so where can I find a guy like that?" asked Audrey, huffing.
