Annabeth sat listening to the quiet beeping of the heart monitor in the hospital, staring at the window and at the reflection of her, the dampened, flat blonde hair and the dull, bleary grey eyes. It had been a year, a long, painful year since the Giant War, and before Leo could blow himself up Percy had leaped in and shoved Leo back to earth with Piper and Jason, pushing himself in and nearly killing him, before he fell to the sea. The contact with the ocean water healed him, but he was in a comatose. They'd blamed it on a freak car accident.

She forced herself to stay strong as the doctor walked in with a sad expression and gloves, and Annabeth immediately knew what they were going to do.

They were going to pull the plug.

She swallowed and tried to control her breathing, trying not to break, as she glanced at the clock. 6:25 pm, August 18th. The exact two year anniversary. "No!" She begged the doctor, "Please, one more day." Tears leaked out the daughter of Athena's eyes. The doctor agreed and left the room, and Annabeth listened to the receding footsteps before the heart monitor took over her hearing again.

She sank lower into the bedside chair and took Percy's cold, lifeless hand in hers.

For over an hour, Annabeth sat there, praying to all the gods that Percy would keep hanging on but her belief was fading more, even as all her friends came in, and especially when each said their goodbyes to Percy.

Then, Grover walked in holding a bag in his hands. Annabeth gave him a small smile and stood up, embracing the disguised satyr. "You may want to have a look inside," Grover said before leaving quietly.

Annabeth took a look inside the bag and found a build a bear dressed exactly how Percy usually was. With jeans, converse and a CHB, shirt, though this time it was covered by a blue hoodie. They even had Riptide in one of the bear's paws. And oh gods, the eyes, they were the exact same shade of sea-green as Percy's closed ones.

She grabbed the bear, breathing in ragged, shaky syllables. She would give anything to see Percy's sea-green eyes stare at her again with the love they were always filled with, to hug him, to feel him, to kiss him and feel his soft lips move in sync with hers as the ocean smell filled her senses.

Annabeth squeezed the bear and Percy's voice came through the bear. "Will you marry me?" Annabeth choked back a soft sob "Yes," she hugged Percy as her body shook slightly with tears, "I do."

She took another glance into the bag and found a small red, velvet box. Inside the box was a beautiful engagement ring, with a slim and elegant band of celestial bronze and a gem with swirls of sea-green and grey and carved were the five words Annabeth would always want to hear from Percy. "As long as we're together" Tears poured down her face as she felt someone's arms wrap around her.

"Why are you crying?" came Percy's weak voice.
