~Nicole~

"Mum?" I repeat, my voice shaking.

"What are you doing here you pathetic little slut? I thought you were supposed to be touring with your five boyfriends. Or did you already move onto someone else? And what the hell did you do to your hair?" she says, crossing her arms in front of her and impatiently tapping a Prada-clad foot waiting for my answer.

I ignore her blunt rudeness and say cooly, "I had a business meeting here. But I'm going back and I'm expecting a car in a few minutes to take me to the airport."

I crane my neck, hoping that the driver might be early instead of the on-the-minute promptness that I usually receive. I completely ignore her comments about my colored hair, because there's no point in arguing about that.

"I don't even want to know what business you're getting yourself into, who in the world would want you for anything anyway? Oh there's my boyfriend. I must be going. I'm not going to pretend that it was nice seeing you nor that I am looking forward to meeting you again. Goodbye, Nicole," she says, turning away.

"Simon Cowell!" I yell after her.

She turns around. "What?"

"Simon Cowell wants to sign me, Mum," I say, just as my car arrives, perfectly on time.

I step in and tell the driver to step on it, leaving my mother with her mouth in a complete 'O' staring after me in shock. I wave at her, wiggling my fingers with a smile on my face. Looks like I won this time.

"Wait, so she just walked up to you and called you a slut?" Zayn asks, widening his eyes. "Right there in the middle of the street?"

I shrug. "Pretty much. I mean, I guess I'm used to her by now so it's not a huge deal. I just wasn't exactly supposed to tell anyone besides you guys about my meeting with Simon, but I doubt it's something she'll want to brag about to anyone so I think it's okay," I say.

Liam shakes his head and says, "I usually don't like to judge people I've never met before, but she seems... difficult."

I snort. "That is the understatement of the century, honey."

I take a sip of my soda while Zayn finishes another slice of the pizza that he is sharing with Liam.

"So how have things been here?" I ask after a few seconds of silence.

"Well, it looks like Niall might like someone," Liam says.

My face breaks out into a grin, good for Nialler!

"Who?" I ask, not able to contain my excitement.

"Rebecca," Zayn smirks.

"Like, your stylist?!" I ask. I have to admit, I didn't exactly see the two of them together.

Zayn nods. "She was working on our outfits last night at a fitting and the two of them kept staring at each other and blushing. It was actually really funny," he says, smirking.

"Yeah," says Liam, "their hands like brushed against each other and they both jumped back and wouldn't look at each other. And when we left Niall had a smile on his face and he seemed so distracted that Louis took a whole plate of cookies from him and he didn't even notice!"

Wow. I guess he's moved on from me then, and it's good that he finally realized that I'm nothing special. I mean, come on, if your own mother tells you that you're a worthless slut, what's the point in arguing?
