Skye's P.O.V
I wake up to tapping at my window. I roll over and slightly open my eyes to see who is at my window. After my eyes adjusted to the bright light I could make out Cameron at my window. I close my eyes and try to ignore him but he keeps tapping and it starts to annoy me. I sit up and throw my pillow at the window. It smacked the window; he flinched and almost fell off the sill. My skipped when I saw he almost fell, so I ran over there and threw my window open. I go to reach for his hand but I see he is smiling, "Why are you smiling?" he pulls himself up and sits on my window sill with his feet dangling in my room, "Cause I knew you would help if you thought I was falling off your roof" I huffed and started to walk away but he grabbed my arm and spun me around. "I know your mad at me but I came to remind you I'm going to MAGCON, so I leave tonight" I got my arm freed and crossed my arms over my chest. "Well that's all I wanted to say" I watched him climb down from my roof and get in his car and drive away. I closed my window and checked my phone; it said I had one missed message:
"You have been chosen to move up to the top 25 songs in Jake Miller's song writing contest"
I silent screamed to myself, I started to jump up and down. I flopped down on my bed and noticed the time. I mumbled under my breath because I was running late to work. I hurried up and got dressed in a grey shirt and a P!NK sweat shirt and threw on some ripped skinny jeans. I quickly brushed my hair and grabbed my galaxy converse and ran down stairs. I grabbed an apple and saw the note:
"I will be out of town for business and your sisters are going with their friends to a ski resort so you are on your own for the holidays"
I just crumpled the paper into a ball and threw it behind me and ran to the door. As I reached for the door knob I cursed under my breath, "Shit I don't have a car and I'm already late for work" I opened my door to see Cameron sitting out in front of my house. I walk over and he rolls down the window, "Do you need a ride?" I cross my arms over my chest, "I saw you drive away, why did you come back?" he smiles "Because I knew you need a ride to work and I know you can't stay mad at me for long" he stuck out his bottom lip and made the puppy dog face. I stomped my foot and tried to stay made but I sighed and opened the car door. I sat down and out of the corner of my eye I saw him fist pumping the air. I laugh, "You're a goofball" "But I'm your goofball" we both laugh. We arrive in front of the daycare, the ride over was awkward at most, no one spoke much except for miner conversation starters like, "Want to listen to some music?" or "How was your morning?" so I quickly got out of Cam's car and walked up to the front door. I punched in my code and I heard Cam pull away. I walked up and went to punch in but it denied my swipe three times. I sigh and went to find my boss Janet. I walked to the back room and found her clean tables for lunch. She looked up and looked surprised to see me, "Um Skye, what are you doing here?" I chuckle, "Uh I kind of work here" her face went all sad. "But your father called in this morning and said your quitting but never stated the reason" my jaw hit the floor, I could not believe my dad would do this, "But I can't lose this job what about Nolan and better yet where are you going to find a replacement in time to work my shift?" she shakes her head, "I'm sorry Skye but I can hand you, your last check but then I am going to have to ask you to leave" I felt tears build up in my eyes but I shut my eyes tight so they could not fall. She walked by me towards up front so I followed her. She stopped at her desk and opened the front drawer and looked through a stack of envelops. She found the one she was looking for and put the rest back and shut the drawer. She handed me the envelop and I hurried out of the building. I started to walk down the street because I knew I was not going to call Cam for a ride and sit through another awkward ride home. I was lost in my own thoughts that I didn't even know where I was walking. I was brought back from my thoughts when I almost ran into a stop sign. I caught myself inches from the sign and looked around and discovered I was lost. "Ugh, just my luck" I kicked a stone down the road and saw a neon sign for a dinner, so I began walking towards it. As I walked in I didn't see anyone in here but one old guy sitting at the counter. A waitress walks up to me, "Sit anywhere you want young lady" she smiled, so I smiled back at her and sat at the farthest table from the door. As I sat down the waitress walked up and sat a menu down and said, "Take your time deciding" and she walked back to the kitchen. I pulled out my phone and checked twitter. Soon as I got on I noticed a picture that I was tagged in from a magazine. I clicked the tweet and opened the picture; it was from the concert when Jake was hugging me. The tweet read, "Is Jake still caught up on Madison that he pulled a fan that looked like her on stage" I got pissed that everyone keeps calling me her so I opened Google Chrome and searched Madison and Jake. It brought up a shit ton of finds, I scrolled through a lot of pictures and saw why everyone kept comparing me to her because we do look alike but we're different too. I was not paying attention until the waitress walked over with a piece of pie and set it in front of me. I looked down at it and then back up to her, "Um I didn't order that" she smiled and pointed at the new guy that walked in. He sat at the counter and was eating the same pie he sent over to me. I excused myself and walked over to him, "Thanks for the pie but I can take care of myself" he sipped his coffee and chuckled, "You can take care of yourself, did you notice the two guys that have been following you since you left your job?" I looked around and noticed two guys in black suits staring at me in the booth next to the one I was sitting in. the mystery guy pull me down in the seat next to him, "Listen carefully and do as I said and you will make it out of her alive" I didn't even say a word and he cleared his throat and the waitress came out from the kitchen carrying hot soup. She walked over to the guys in dark suits and tripped spilling the hot soups all over them. I covered my mouth from laughing too hard. I turned to look at the mystery guy and he grabbed my hand and led me through the kitchen and out the back door. He walked over to a motorcycle and handed me the helmet that was sitting on the back of bike. "Um no I don't do motorcycle's" he laughed and grabbed my hand, "Do you know why they are following you?" I shook my head and he got even closer to me, now our chest where touching. I felt in danger to I kneed him in the crotch and ran off. I looked back to see if I was being followed and the two men in suits where walking out of the dinner. I cursed under my breath and ran faster. I heard them start their car and start to follow me down the road. I hid behind a big tree hoping they don't see me. As I am hiding I feel my phone vibrate, I check it and see its Cam. I slide it to ignore it and peek around the tree and see the two men drive on past me. I wait a couple of minutes so I know the cost is clear and I start my way home, knowing it's going to be a long walk.
Jake's P.O.VI wake up to someone poking my nose. I open one eye a little to see who it is. I spot Nolan sitting on my chest and poking my nose. I quickly grab him and start tickling him until he was crying from laughter. I stop and sat on the edge of the bed, "So bud are you ready for your last day at this daycare" as I finished that his face drooped, I placed my finger under his chin and raised his head, "Don't worry buddy, you still got me" he didn't even crack a smile. He just slide off the bed and walked out of the bed room and into the living room. I sigh and throw my hands over my face and lay back, "It was way easier when you were around Madie" I sat back up and through on some clothes from my suitcase and grabbed my shoes and headed out. Nolan was waiting by the door with his headphones on. I walked over and reached over his hand and he just turned from me. I sighed and opened the front door, I turned back and yelled to the guys, "Will be back" they all yelled different things back that it was hard to make out what they all said. I walk out and see Nolan half way down the hall. I curse under my breath and run after him. By the time I reach him he pressed the down button on the elevator. I grabbed his hand and whispered shouted, "Don't you ever leave without me or someone by your side" he just turned his head from me. I sighed and walked in the elevator that dinged open behind us. I placed Nolan in his car seat and hurried up to the driver's seat. We pull up in front of the daycare and I hurry up and get Nolan out of his car seat and up to the door. I remembered the code this time and the door buzzed on the first try. We walk in and were greeted by the owner of the daycare. She smiled at me and then smiled and kneeled down to talk to Nolan. "Yeah there are you ready to spend the day with me?" I looked down at Nolan writing on his board, he finishes writing and it says "Sky?" I looked at him puzzled and the director stood up and said, "I think he means the person he hung out with the last time he was here, but I'm sorry she quit today" Nolan wrapped around my leg and gave it a death grip. I tried to pry him off but he was not budging. I gave up and looked at the director, "I'm sorry for this but it looks like Nolan wants to stay with me today is that fine?" she smiles and walks to her desk and writes up the payment for the days he was there, I paid and walked back to the car. As we got to the car Nolan loosened his grip. I place him back into his car seat and back over to the driver's seat. I sigh and start the car and take off to get ready for the club opening tomorrow night.
Cameron's P.O.VAs I dropped Skye off at work I drove off to go finish packing for my trip to MAGCON. As I got home I got a text from my best friend Nash:
"Hey bro can't wait to see you at MAGCON"
"Yeah if I go..."
"What do you mean if you go?!?"
"Long story it's complicated"
"Want to talk about it?"
"No, I will text you when I'm done packing"
With that I shut off my phone, I walked past my mom's book club and heading up to my room. As I walked in I saw a message flashing on my screen, I walked over it was from the jakemiller.com saying that Skye as move on to the top 25 and they will be announcing the top 10 in two days. I jumped up and down with excitement because now she has to know she has a gift. I look at the time and cursed under my breath, it was already 1:30 and my flight takes off at 10:30. I grab my luggage from my closet and start to pack.
By the time I was done packing for the trip I unlocked my phone to check the time, it was 9:30. I hit my contacts and scrolled down to Skye's number and called it. it rang three times and went to voice mail five times. I started to get worried that maybe she was in danger. I started to pace in my room without even knowing. I called her one more time and this time it went straight to voice mail. That was it I texted Nash:
"Sorry bro but something came up; tell everyone I'm sorry that I could not make it"
I locked my phone and ran to my car, I started my car and drove off trying to find Skye, "I hope she is ok"
