Near the end of the way while I was walking past the window with a table’s food, I noticed that white G-Wagon pulled into the car lot, the same one that was in the apartment building. I knew it was the same one because I recognized the name plate. Sighing to myself, I forced myself to smile at the couple who the food was for, setting it down in front of them. “Have a good meal.” I said happily, then walked to a table of mine that had left. I only had six to look after. Taking the money for the bill, I saw they left a pretty big tip, $10, and smiled, tucking it into my pocket and took the rest to the cash register. I began cleaning the table and then saw two people get out of the G-Wagon, a woman in her mid-twenties and somebody in their early twenties, siblings perhaps. I desperately hoped they’d go to the Target next door but they made their way to the front door of the restaurant.
I groaned to myself because tables were filled depending on if the waiter was busy or not, and I was just finishing the table. Everybody else apart from two people were cleaning all their tables. I looked at my co-worker and got her attention, then motioned to the two people who walked in. It was something we did often if we didn’t want to look after whoever came in. She nodded politely and lingered around the front desk purposely. The hosts always got the hint, but this time they decided to be a pain and sat them down at one of my tables.
The co-worker gave me asking eyes. I shook my head and slouched, taking my work phone out of my pocket and walked to the table. “Can I get you guys a drink?”
“Coffee.” Said the female. The other said nothing so she had to answer for him. “Two, actually.”
I nod and walk to my waiter stand, grabbing two menus and setting them in front of them, and then made my way to the kitchen to make them. A different co-worker was in there, filling a dishwasher. She noticed my foul expression and inhaled. “What’s up?” She asked.
   “Snobby table.” I mutter.
“What do you mean?” She said, glancing at the coffee maker.
“I saw them pull into the restaurant with a G-Wagon.” I said dully, grabbing two mugs.
She snickered. “Good luck.” She pat my shoulder then retreated to the dining room. Nobody liked snobby customers here. We’ve had multiple that thought they were superior and have left life changing memories.
Considering to trip up the co-worker, I decided not to as to not get into trouble. After filling the coffee mugs with, obviously, coffee, I set them on a tray with sweetener and creamers like we always had, and then walked back and set it on their table. “Do you need time?” I asked as politely as possible.
She gazed into thin air for about three seconds before replying. “Five minutes?” She asked. She seemed fairly nice, I just had a long-lasting detest for rich people. I nod and made my way over to the table with the couple, taking their plates and their order for dessert. Once I put the order in my phone, I put the plates away and then returned to the snobs.
   “Ready?”
She nodded and picked a salad and the male got a pasta dish. While his sister was ordering for him, I saw his eyes under his bowed head flicker to look at me. I smiled weakly and then left when the order was done, used to guys secretly staring or making it obvious they were by this point in time. Usually I’d mock them a little but I chose not to this time because he seemed especially shy. I lingered a few tables away since the restaurant was an hour from closing time, so we let nobody else in. The only people left were the couple, four tables that belonged to the co-worker, and the two amigos.
My phone buzzed eventually, the chef’s signal to say something was done. I trailed to the kitchen and grabbed the couple’s desserts, then gave it to them and trailed back once it buzzed a second time. I grabbed the meals and then gave them to the other table. I was glanced at yet again. I just rose a brow at him as I went to help clear the kind co-workers tables. I heard the two people muttering to each other and when I looked over to see if their meals were done, I saw the male was blushing and the female smirking. Sibling detest, I could see it anywhere; they definitely weren’t a couple or two friends.
Every time I went back to the table I noticed him glancing. Just as they left, I grabbed his arm gently. He quickly turned to me, looking quite scared, but softened when he saw it was just me. “What?” He asked nervously. His sister stood just outside of the restaurant, waiting.
   “Were you staring at me?”
His face lit up red again and his sister started laughing. Despite his embarrassment he nodded. “Mhm…”
   “Why?”
“I don’t know…” He said, voice suddenly sounding guilty. He winced as I let go and I began to wonder what was wrong with him. He was nothing alike anybody else who I’d caught staring, or anybody else in general.
I rose a brow as I let go. “Ok..?” He smiled vaguely then rushed after his sister who had started walking towards their car.
One of my co-workers, who was an asshole, smirked and stood behind me. “My, my, Aphmau. You’ve flirted with customers before but I didn’t think you’d have the guts to stop somebody before they left.” She said, an evil smirk. “Say, did you get his number?”
“Why do you care?” I asked, looking at her in frustration as I walked to their table and began clearing it.
“I don’t know. He was handsome. I’d like to have him for myself.” She said, shrugging. She was purposely winding me up, without any information that I even had an emotion other than confusion towards him.
I raise a brow. “Sorry to disappoint you, but I didn’t get anything.”
“Then why did you approach him? It hardly looked like they hadn’t paid.” She teased, looking out of the window just as they got into their car. “They look well off to me.”
I growl. “I noticed him staring at me so I went to ask why!” I snapped, looking at her. “Why? Is that a problem? You’re the one who tells customers to wait outside of the employee door so you can hook up in dark alleys!” I shouted. A nearby co-worker snickered but said nothing.
Her face lit on fire. “At least I don’t hide my emotions.” She said, then left to go to the kitchen.
“Have fun getting pregnant!” I shouted after her, being sassy. Everybody knew that she and one of the chefs had been having sex in the alley behind the restaurant for the past few months, it’s just that nobody ever brought it up. She flipped me off while walking away.
Cyril rose a brow at me, looking through papers at the front desk. “Anything I should be concerned about?”
“No.” I muttered, taking the dirty cutlery and plates then went to the kitchen too. I then smiled to myself. “Sisterly bonding!” I shouted as I walked away, however he didn’t get mad. He was oblivious to sarcasm, that’s mostly why he never did it.
