THE NEXT day, Hendre's secretary was standing outside the apartment. I was only wearing boxers and hadn't taken a bath yet. So I hurriedly wore clothes and opened the door for her.
"Dr. Hendre told me to check on you. He also ordered me to come with me to go to the hospital. He was also asking if your brother Neo is with you," she said as soon as she saw me.
Hendre sounded like a protective grandpa here. "Yep. Neo was here last night but I didn't see him this morning. Come in, Orlstein is in the bathroom."
I grabbed a drinking glass and poured water in it. I gave it to her but she just shook her head. Woah. It didn't have any poison. I just drank water.
"So, how long have you been his secretary?" I asked to break the deafening silence.
"More than 10 years," she replied.
The door of the bathroom creaked and Orlstein went out, her hair was wet but she was already wearing clothes. She seemed shocked when she saw the secretary. I told her that Hendre just wanted to make sure that we're fine.
"He's not a psychopath after all," she whispered before I entered the bathroom.

Patrina, Hendre's secretary, led us to his office and left the two of us before Hendre opened the door. He looked like he didn't take a bath for a year. He didn't stink but his uniform was covered with different kinds of stain. His eyes were swollen. Eyebags.
"Come in," he said.
His office was actually clean. It was cleaner than yesterday. But his table was....a mess. I looked at him again, he looked horrible.
"What happened with you?" I asked.
"I received a message from SCIG. They got reports from Adolf. They are still into him. They'll arrive this afternoon and tomorrow will be his last day of freedom," he replied. Was it the reason why he looked miserable?
"Are we included in this mission?" Orlstein asked.
"Of course! Carthik will be the key to summon him."
"What? Am I going to kill people again?" I contrasted. We weren't even sure if he'd show up.
"Yes. Sometimes sacrifices are made in order to save millions," he said, trying to convince me. I glanced at Orlstein, she was disagreeing about his plan.
"No. I won't. There must be another way. When we went to Town 3, we met him by accident but he manipulated the memories of those people who witnessed what he did. Orlstein wasn't able to remember because of what Adolf did," I explained. Their eyebrows almost met.
"What do you mean? You haven't or didn't mention this," Orlstein and Hendre said at the same time.
"Okay. This what happened. We were finding him and then I saw him at the bakery where we rested for a few minutes. He was arguing with the baker. He was wearing eyepatches but he could still see! I told the baker that he's with us so he sat on our table. I was shocked when he knew me! Suddenly, I was lost in my mind and then there were voices," I said, recalling those creepy moments.
"Voices? What voices?" Hendre asked.
"Yes. It was his voice. Those voices kept saying, 'It looks like you haven't told her the truth, eh? Sorry, but you can only talk to me once you tell her about Auren. See you, then.' After that, he disappeared as well as Orlstein's memories."
Hendre sighed heavily. "He's still using his mind controlling ability. SCIG must know about this."
We talked for an hour about Adolf's ability. Hendre admitted that he encouraged Adolf to learn those things which made my blood boiled and ran up to my head. I couldn't blame him though. I experienced that already. Committing mistakes and later on living my life full of regrets.
Hours had passed until we heard continuous knocks on the door. Three muscular men entered the room. They were all wearing black leather jackets.
"Dr. Carl, long time no see," the man with the most muscular body said. He's maybe the boss of SCIG. Hendre saluted at him.
"Where are the others?" Hendre asked and out his arm beside him.
"Outside. Anyway, SCIG city headquarters will also help us. I hope you're doing the job I gave you," he said.
"I am, General Eliopulos," Hendre said. Hendre looked like General Eliopulos' pet dog which meant that he really respected his General. "By the way, these are Carthik Martel and Orlstein Gagnon. They will be helping us also."
I extended my hand but it seemed like I was actually supposed to salute. So I slowly lowered my hand and saluted at him. Orlstein did what I do.
"Carthik, I heard a lot about you from Hendre. I also heard the news. I hope you're not the cause of the enigma," he said.
I gulped. It was not the right time to lie. "I'll pay all of my sins, General."
"Good to hear but after we caught Adolf, SCIG will take care of you."
I looked at Hendre and then Orlstein, asking for help. "General, let's not talk about it this time. We should be planning how to get Adolf."
General Eliopulos nodded in agreement. "Sure. Let's start."
They were talking about Adolf's past cases and his improvement. Bad improvements. They also discussed Adolf's mind controlling ability. Actually, I already knew the majority of their topic.
When they planned on getting Adolf, Hendre mentioned my name. He told them about his plan and there was nothing wrong in trying.
"There is wrong in trying especially if there are innocent lives taken. That's the reason we're getting Adolf," the other man whose name was Denis said. He's bald and strong.
"Can we kill him?" Orlstein asked. All of their heads turned to her, shocked.
"Yes. If you can," Fred the man with a long beard, said. I wanted to destroy his face and shave his beard because of what he said. It was an insult.
They kept on debating whether to pursue Hendre's plan or not. I believed that there must be another way. The room was filled with noises and they just couldn't accept what the other said.
"I need to go. It's almost time for my duty," Hendre said and stood up. The three men didn't stop him. When he opened the door, one man and a woman were standing outside. I heard a loud beat inside my body. I gulped hundreds of times.
"Officer Conrad and Officer Xamra, you're absolutely early."
