June 01
Junhui held the knob of the door and twisted it open. He pushed it and saw Minghao in the living room, their baby Chess in his arms as he sways Chess to sleep.
Junhui smiled and silently walked to Minghao. He leaned in to kiss Chess, but Minghao turned his back on Junhui before he could touch them.
"I told you to wash your hands before you touch either of us," Minghao strictly reminded him, his eyes glaring at him.
Junhui smiled sheepishly. "Opo, sorry po."
Junhui went to the sink, quickly washing his hands so he could touch his babies, or else Minghao would never let him lay a finger on them.
Minghao was always strict about it. He was always strict about what touches Chess and what Chess touches.
Minghao told Junhui to always wash hands since he could be a medium for Chess to get things that he shouldn't that Junhui might have brought with him from the hospital.
So Junhui would always comply immediately for he understands anyway. There could be a lot of risk, especially that Chess might not be as strong as other babies who have completed nine months in their mother's womb.
Junhui dried his hands after, then went back to the living room. He kissed Chess' forehead before kissing Minghao on his lips.
"How's your day, love?" Minghao asked.
Junhui smiled. "It was fine. We lost someone who had been in the ICU for three days."
Minghao nodded. "That's tough."
Junhui sighed. "And, how are you?"
"Fine," Minghao said shortly. "The wedding preparations are tiring."
Junhui smiled, cupping Minghao's cheek. "I'll try getting home earlier tomorrow."
"Okay," Minghao replied. "Ang lamig naman ng kamay mo."
Junhui chuckled. "Malamig sa labas, e. And how is Chess?"
"He's doing fine though he cries a lot," Minghao answered.
Junhui cooed and leaned down to Chess who was sleeping peacefully in the warmth of his father's arms.
"Bakit iyak Chess? Jiaomei, huwag masyado iyak, stress lalo si Dada," Junhui baby talked, and held Chess' small hand that was just the size of his index finger.
Minghao smiled as he stared.
This was always what he dreamed and prayed for so long: stability, Junhui and a family of his own with him.
"Huwag sobra iyak, anak, okay? Daddy iyak din, sige, iyakan tayo dalawa," Junhui continued, using the same voice as earlier.
Minghao just chuckled. "Anyways, have you contacted our parents?"
Junhui nodded. "Yep. Nag-book na raw ng flight sina Mama't Papa. At ang mga magulang mo, pupunta 'yon. Pinagbantaan ko sila na kapag 'di sila magpapakita sa kasal, hindi ka na magiging Xu."
"E, gago, hindi na talaga ako magiging Xu," Minghao replied, chuckling as he shakes his head. "You're unbelievable, Wen."
Junhui grinned. "But kidding aside, they promised to come. So it's going to be okay, the wedding will go well as we have planned."
"I know it will," Minghao said and smiled.
Junhui nodded. "Can I have him?" He asked, pertaining to Chess.
Minghao nodded back, so Junhui took Chess from Minghao, and held him gently, Chess resting on both of his arms.
"Tara, punta na tayo sa kwarto," Minghao said, and held Junhui's back.
