MAX'S BEDROOM WAS HOW MADISON REMEMBERED IT as she entered the teens room, but then she noticed a few new posters on his walls and then something familiar on another one. Madison moved towards the wall, seeing her drawing of Max, that she did months ago, hanging there.
She ran her fingers over the edge of the paper, feeling a huge warmth inside of her. Madison turned her head to see Max placing his school bag on his bed, "You kept it?"
Max turned to face her, "Of course I did."
"Why?" She asked, taking her bag off of her shoulder and placing it at the foot of the bed.
"Because you drew it." He responded, which shot a methaphorical rush of electricity through her body. Madison's lips stretched into a smile and she slightly dropped her head, momentarily feeling embarrassed that she was blushing. Max moved closer to her, "I've missed your smile."
Madison lifted her head to see Max had moved much closer and still was. She locked her eyes on his, "I'm sorry for what my mom did, you had every right to come and visit me."
Max searched her eyes, gently taking her left hand in his and brushing his thumb against the back of it, "It doesn't matter, you're out now and you're here, with me."
"When did you get so confident with your romantic lines?" Madison asked, inching closer to him.
Max closed the gap between them, their eyes both locked on each other, "When I realised how much I can't live without you in my life."
The brunette was in complete awe at the boy infront of her. His words felt different to anyone else who had said anything similar to her, they felt gentle and warm and full of truth. Madison moved her face close to his and he dropped his head until his lips attached to hers.
Madison draped her hands around his neck and he pulled her waist towards his body. This was the feeling Madison had missed, the only feeling she could feel, the only one she really needed.
They broke apart at the sound of a car door shutting outside. Max groaned and moved towards the window, "That'll be my step-sister."
"Oh, I didn't know you had a sister." Madison said.
"Step." He clarified, "She just got back in town."
"Where did she go?" The brunette asked.
"She was in LA for her job." He told her.
Madison took a seat on the edge of his bed, "What does she do?"
"I... can't exactly say," Max responded, "it's complicated."
