Archie POV
After Pop’s we all came back and got ready for bed. Jughead was uncomfortable with taking out his hearing aids with Betty around so he still had his hearing aids in and his beanie on. We were all laying there, Betty and Jellybean sharing a bed, and me and Jughead sharing a bed. When Jellybean opened her eyes and looked directly at Jughead, “You don’t think that dad is moving out of the trailer without us do you?”
Jughead turned over and looked at her, obviously tired and said “What makes you think that?”
“Well, I mean, dad said he had something important to share with all of us right? Well, that could be that he doesn’t want to deal with us anymore and is moving out of the trailer so that we can have somewhere to live.” She explained.
Jughead rolled on his back and said “Well, that makes sense. He could want to move in with Ms. Cooper, then that would solve the bedroom issue.”
He paused and then at the same time they said “I call the big bedroom.”
“Guys, your dad loves you, he wouldn’t leave you in the trailer to move in with his girlfriend.” Betty said. “Why would any parent do that?”
Jellybean quietly said “Well, our mom kicked us out of the house one time to invite a guy over, so we had to sleep at the Whyte Wyrm.”
“She did that?” Betty asked, sadly.
“Yeah.” Jughead said sadly.
“It could also be that your dad has finally got someone to remodel the trailer so you guys don’t have to share the room anymore.” I pointed out trying to think positively, and pulling jughead back into my chest.
“Why would that affect Betty?” Jellybean asked
“Well, maybe he just wants everyone to be aware just in case you guys need to sleep at the Coopers for a week or so.” I explained.
“That makes sense.” Betty said, “Or it could be that they just want to do more ‘family bonding’.” using her fingers to quote ‘family bonding.’
Jughead snorted and lifted his head, “If he wants a dysfunctional family, with a reject in it then yeah.”
“Reject?” Jellybean asked. Then when she realized she sighed, “Jughead you are not a reject just because you are not perfect.” I could tell she didn’t want to mention the hearing aids, he hated it when you mentioned it.
Betty snorted, “Literally no one’s perfect.” clearly not getting that they were talking about something physical.
Jughead just turned over and glared at her, “Says the one who lives on the northside in a castle of a house, with perfect health, grades, and has parents who love them.” and then promptly turned back over and stuck his head in the crease of my neck.
“You don’t know what it’s like to never live up to your parents expectations. To never be good enough for them, and never getting to be yourself.” She said.
“B*tch, why do you think mom hit him? Because she liked him?” Jellybean explained.
“Jellybean!” Jughead reprimanded.
“Well, sorry. It’s not like she had to deal with you having to get up an hour earlier just to put on makeup to cover up bruises and scars that were left there by someone who should have been protecting you. Or mom always expecting you to fail and telling you that you won’t make it through high school, or that you’ll just get a girl pregnant, so you’ll have ungrateful brats like you. Or listen to it when she shoved you up against the wall and tried to kill you, or had to sleep at their school because she got drunk and decided to go to town on you.” She ranted out.
